KagoshimaJosh's Post History
I played TERA back when it first released, was subbed for a while. Really, really enjoyed the combat but got burnt out by the quest structure.
I getting the urge to come back and play some, though.
Have there been any improvements in the past half year or so? Is the f2p a problem in any way? How's pvp and endgame pve these days?
Thanks!
WoW
Rift
TERA
TSW
SWTOR
All games that require sub to play. These also just happen to be the most popular MMOs on the market right now.
Free to play is essentially equivalent to "desperate attempt to stay afloat/profitable." When MMOs go F2P they lose relevance in gamers' eyes. People joke about them. It's like the natural human tendency to not want to be seen with the uncool kid at school.
So, yeah, I don't know what armchair oracle you've been talking to, but I don't think the sub model is going away anytime soon.
If Eme allows PvP to PvE server transfers, I'll possibly resub. Until then, no go, simply due to the terrible PvP community .
I also like to play quite a bit solo, but it's mainly due to efficiency. As soon as you have to find a group for a BAM quest or whatever, you have to wait for the inevitable person who takes 15 minutes to get there. Then someone will D/C. Then someone has to AFK to eat dinner. Or take a shower.
It just bugs me when people join groups and aren't considerate of other people's time. I do enjoy GOOD groups though. And I certainly love doing group PvP and instances. Questing though, I prefer to keep to myself.
This is why I love the questing in Rift - you can stumble across a rift opening or an invasion event and you jump right into a public group, defeat the boss/close the rift and then leave. Guild Wars 2's "quest" system is also nice in this regard.
Nope, EME didn't screw up.
They are setting up the political system. This is actually exciting! Can't wait to see how the elections play out, especially on a PVP server.
You guys are doing awesome EME - keep it up!
If you were to get in, wouldn't you have been earning astronomical xp? Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase power leveling.
As a sorc, I make it a goal to never get hit, if ony so I stay at full health in case some ganker tries some funny business. Also, Mana Barrier is my friend.
You know, I have a very different reaction lately when seeing threads like these.
Back when I was a week into SWTOR, I'd get upset when people would list all the flaws with the game on the forums. I would really get worked up and adamant in my defense of the game. I later learned why I got so mad: I was defensive of the game because I knew, deep down, it was seriously flawed.
With TERA, I don't get that feeling. When I see threads like these, I just shake my head and smile. This is because, deep down, I know I'm having the most fun I've had playing an MMO - heck, even game - in a long, long time. TERA is just pure gaming bliss for me. Will everybody love the game? I guess not. But as long as I, and a strong community of fellow gamers (this is an MMO after all, so community is important) are happy, that's all I need.
I'm with the OP. While "everyone" was having some kind of issue or another, it's been nothing but smooth sailing for me.
*shrug*
Well, back to the game.
