So, to keep this going if anyone wants too. Basic tanking tips.

Something like save your leash for boss running away for interupt. Or use it to stun him for a few to get a nice threat boost or rebuild mana. I don't know, just basic things you've found to be really helpful that would definitely help a newbie.

2nd solo tips, questing. Do you enter the quest fights like you do tanking for a group or do you barely block at all, pretty much for retaliate? I'm sure you guys have a few tips to make questing a little bit faster.

Same with warriors. Post your tips kindred spirits. As I assume warriors do frequent this tanking thread.
While I love how much of a success this thread is, to the guys saying that we need faster attack speed, among other upgrades. I know, and agree, without playing, anything that helps out tanking to me is perfect. But devs have to think about pvp. For instance,

A faster attack speed would help us destroy others in pvp when I hear we already do, especially in the 1v1 brackets.

2nd to the warriors, a stam dodge without a cd but depended on stam seems a pretty op. And the class from the vids I watched can stun lock anybody pretty much in 1v1. They say its a hard class to master but if you do you can destroy any class. Especially dodging 3-4 times consecutively.
Yeah that seems extremely consistent with my own research, thank you for answering. And it's nice to see I won't just be facerolling. I was a pally, the aoe tanking was too damn good to pass up/self heals.

The healer trash thing seems to be in all games. Heals just scream aggro lol. And I like how you say even we are squishy to an extent. It seems to be pure skill, a prospect I hope I enjoy.

The dungeon time thing sucks then, but still seems like I will enjoy this game. If I can't understand or just fail at tanking, I'll probably try my hand at mystic as it seems the only other class to draw my attention by being unique.

Any other tanks who still want to chime in your more than welcome. I wanna know all I can. Feed my brain and ambition!
Question.

Pressing D, does that turn your character towards you or does it do a simple back peddle? I haven't played but pressing W or D seems like it will turn your character towards your reticule right? If so it seems pressing D seems like the best solution for a quick in place turn as back peddles are always slower movement so it would be as if you stayed in place.

If not a back peddle or turn towards your reticule than damn, they messed up.
So..I know this probably isn't the best introduction but...I love tanking. I tanked my entire career in wow, which I stopped right after cata 1st release. It was fun in it's difficulty but lack of player skill and/or idiots abound just killed it for me. So naturally I've been looking for a new game and this one is showing promise. I've only recently found out about it and will definitely be in open beta, but I have a few questions for any kind souls who wish to answer.

1. They seem to be using the standard aggro mechanics but I haven't seen a in-depth video. Is it hard to hold aggro not using a standard rotation? I know this game is more situational/tactical dependent and if they fix the faceroll problem I'm happy. But like Runes of Magic I read that tanks pretty much have to solo bosses for 1min or so to build enough threat to keep the mob the rest of the fight. Tell me aggro is fluid. (AoE taunt looks pretty cool btw)

2. How squisshy is the dps? I love keeping aggro, basically nothing feels more natural to me than a million mobs bashing against me while I laugh them off and dps destroys em. But it seems during boss fights, the lancer really just keeps the boss and dps tank/off tank adds. The logic is sound because you can't move the boss to aoe taunt them due to it being a action game, but still, if they die really fast, I can forsee me raging a lot.

3. How intricate are the bosses? Tank and spank? Movement and position game? Special levers or exploding barrels? Basically in comparison to raids and such.

4. I know this isn't wow, and not a game breaker but in wow I could hit max level stupidly fast by LFD all the way. Is this possible here? I hate questing but love running dungeons over and over. Is there a LFD tool? I haven't seen anything about one.

5. Lastly, your opinion over tanking on this game compared to wow plz. I know this may be a pain but anything that really took you a long time to learn or get used too. As this will hopefully expedite my training and becoming an amazing tank. Or atleast give me reference as too how much I will need to learn.

I'm kinda annoyed that they only have 1 main tanking class, and lancer does seem like a boring ride to the top. But once you've made it to there it looks amazing. I have high hopes for this game and really want to be the best tank I can be. Thanks for your time.
