I don't understand why some people want something shiny every time they engage in activity. Don't people just do stuff for the enjoyment of the activity anymore. I pvp because I enjoy the challenge and the unpredictable nature of it. To me there is no greater satisfaction than beating a superior force in pvp. Whether its fending off a gank with mobs beating on you, being out numbered, or killing a higher level player.
I don't need something shiny every time i kill 50 people if I wanted that i'd be running quests. TO a further extent i don't understand the desire to want to cost someone else something for winning in pvp. Especially something as useless to you as lowering their xp bar. Only thing that achieves is annoying ppl into wanting to play less and avoid pvp when ever they are xping.
On the flip side I do like things that promote pvp and drive it. Things like battling for control objects or areas, things that drive pvp into concentrated areas tends promote more pvp and focus it less on the poor lowbies. But it is a double edged sword if done poorly it can cause open world pvp to stagnate.
On a side note L2 pvp was abysmal. The only thing that game had going for it was clan wars and castle seiges. The open world flagging system was terrible. It promoted ganking lowbies and only going red if you had another set of gear or didnt care about your char anymore. And don't get me started on town camping. If you think safe zones are bad in this game your should have played L2. It effectively inhibited much of the pvp that could have been had. Yes people still went red but most didn't unless they had a group there to back them up or it was just a straight up gank. That system evovled some of the wierdest pvp i have ever seen in a game. Training elite mobs and bosses on groups for loot drops. Buffing and healing mobs to kill people for you so you didnt have to go red. Oh ya and going red because some flipped back to white after attacking you was epicly retarded. It was just a flawed system. But it had its moments.
