Hot is a ranking based on positive votes. We have an algorithm that takes time into account so that newer posts have more weight.
What exactly does Hot take into account? just the amount of views? an average of views over time? the voting?

Maybe I'm just too used to reddit, but shouldn't the up/down arrows have different colors? both being blue is kinda of confusing >_>

At the very least we hope the voting gives lurkers a say without having to post and that the What's Hot section will be a nice way to glance at what you guys are interested in.
Otherwise the forums will just continue as normal.

I have the next titles both positive and negative set to a million plus right now. After a week I will see the average gain and loss and set titles appropriately. Impossible to predict without real data. The plan is for them to take time to achieve - forum grind in full effect.
Point proven, look at the past few pages in this thread, everyone is neutral, even though it automatically + you. Which means there are people who will just go in and click minus on everything. So yeah, high threshhold needed.

Yes but this is subtracted from your score. So just posting won't up your title. This just saves you the trouble of voting for yourself.
