Kortezxero's Post History

No problem mate. I do agree, I'm not fond of the armor modification system either I would much rather have something similar to what was done in DCUO. What ever piece of armor you equipped was added to that character's costume list that you can change at will no matter what gear you're wearing stat-wise. I'm a fan of being able to change your look when the mood strikes. I don't know if they will offer more templates but I would like to see a lot more choices when the game goes retail at least.
In regard to the dye problem, the temporary dye you're talking about is a quick way to change your color without having to really commit to anything. There are permanent dyes in the game that you have to either make or get lucky and get them from eggs.
You don't really need to play a game to GM for it. If you're given a set of rules to follow, as well as an outline of what to expect from the player base, you should be able to deal with just about any problem you come across. Of course playing the game will help when dealing with customers but you don't have to know how good a player's weapon is if you're asked to look into why the weapon is no longer on the player's character after he/she warped to town.

Like some people stated before the GMs may not be allowed to take any real disciplinary measures right now. Even though I'm sure they are allowed to use their own discretion in most situations but they still work under people and can only do and say what they are told to.
I do agree with what a few people stated, if you and 2 others were running the instance just fine, then you could take talked to the other 2 to quit the instance and start a new party. You noticed they were just sitting back for free items and exp, so you should have ended it right then. The fact that you even kept going past that is just madness.

It would be nice if they did change the voting to 3/5, having it stay the way it is makes getting rid of problem group members harder then it needs to be.
The problem isn't worrying about a group of high level outlaw killers hunting for outlaws, the real problem comes when he doesn't want to pvp and wants to just level up and get stronger. You can't fight BAMs without worrying that someone will cut your back open the very second they see a chance. You can't fight world bosses because of that same reason. What about normal missions that take you far from save zones? How many people will pass up attacking an outlaw (even if all he wants to do is level now).

In closed beta when they 1st put in the PvP server I turned on my outlaw status, just to see who would attack me, this way I can get a little action without being a jerk, and I can train myself to watch out for ambushes from multiple people. After 10 minutes of trying that I deemed it a stupid endeavor and waiting until it wore off, because every single person who went by attacked me without mercy.
If you have to deal with that there is no way you can level effectively. At the very least it will slow you down, at worst it will put a stop to it altogether, depending on how populated it is at the time.
Lol are you new to the taking care of kids thing? I have yet to meet a child that won't make you regret not really watching them. They have a tendency to be much more..... ingenious then some people give them credit for, until its to late anyway.

@Countblac if the OP decided to gank people of his level, he wouldn't had gotten infamy.

INFAMY punishes people that decide to grief people more than 5 levels lower than them.

Yeah I know, and it works in a vacuum, but most modern mmo players don't like getting ganged up on so they don't flag (since the default state is not-flagged), which means other people see the lack of flagged people and also don't flag up for the same reason, catch 22 ensues. When there's a penalty that might not go away for 2 real time weeks because the guy ganked for half an hour (in a game where you can just change channels to get away from gankers + GvG drama potential) then there's going to be even fewer people still queueing up. When you're forced to be flagged for two weeks you pretty much wont be able to get anything done because people just reflexively kill any red name since they're outnumbered 10:1 at this point. Probably closer to 20 or 30:1 honestly.

In other words theres lots of people who only want to pvp to gank (or mostly at least), and while they might not contribute to the endgame pvp just by virtue of having a red name they encourage other people to flag since it makes it seem safer/viable.

This system is in place for people who are trying to level up without having to worry about max or near max players coming to the low areas and doing what he did. If you're to scared to PvP with people you own level why roll on a PvP server? Outlaws don't get a penalty for killing people near their levels no may how much it pisses people off. The difference between the two is the low level doesn't stand a chance of defending himself, and if there was no penalty, would have a rocky road getting to the point where he would be able to.

Was he in some sort of blood rage killing newbies that he didn't see his penalty stacking up like a Jinga puzzle in a tornado? We were all warned of the penalty for killing weak players before we started playing in this open beta, granted the new players may not know if they didn't follow the closed beta notes, but even they can see something would be wrong if they were observant enough. One thing I can say though, he will undoubtedly think twice, and maybe three times before flagging to one shot a weaker player when this wears off lol.
The most valuable thing in a MMO is time. That's exactly what gets taken from them when they do the same to the low levels. It sounds simple, but just as he stated when he wants to go back to playing normally he can't. Want to fight BAMs? Not while you have to watch your back for just about every other player. Oh man, there's a world boss nice. Chances are he'll never finish the fight before he gets stabbed in the back.

It's something that's very simple but it's more important to each and every one of us then even a piece of epic gear. I don't think something like this will work on a max level ganking guild, but for average players or small guilds this will put a nice hurt on them.
The problem with temporarily deleveling is that it would be used as a way to gank low levels without penalty while they enjoy the nice equipment bonus.

ya i don't get why you start out in an area at lvl 20. with no chat, no map, no clue.. and then you eventually get to the real game at lvl 1 with all the normal things you'd expect.. why give you all these spells, and what not, but none of the normal things.. you can't even ask questions cuz no chat..

from a noob point of view it was very disconcerting, I was ready to quit before i even got to the 'real game'.. they need some more information that early on..

There are quite a few action games that do this. That beginning part was for no other reason then to explain the controls for people not used to them, and to give a little insight in the character you chose. it was a bit long for my taste, and I couldn't stand how slow they took things, but it wasn't all bad. At least I now know who this Ellion is that they talk about in the main game.
