With the recent patch that's coming out today, I felt like this post should be changed in it's nature at this point. EME did some changed I like, which included removing KS points from BGs, adding KS points for losing ranked matches, etc.
--- The only part of the patch I could not completely agree with is the points for unranked matches. In my opinion, if you want points you should have your rating on the line, not be able to farm it up then hide behind the fact that your rating is untouchable.
Now, as for the other things. One thing I see mentioned a lot in this thread now is gear. I understand the whole upgrade of gear system, and WoW's 3 tier / patch gear system some are referring to, but at the current point of the game it's near impossible to do. At this point, here are your 3 tiers: Fraywind -> Conjunct -> Bloodrave (I want to add VM here, but that's it's own outlier)
For those referring to that type of system, that is it right there. They can't really change it or add something new, because that'd require a lot more content which probably won't be hitting till the alliance vanarch patch (which is supposedly bringing it's own new pvp set). One thing they are doing for this is making conjunct easier to get through nexus. All you need to do is invest in one 7 day rep boost and you can pretty much get most of the points you need from these changes if I read them right.
The bottom line is, there is a gear disparity, but you're really not going to get free gear in this game. The #1 thing for that was the bloodrave gloves / boots, but luckily they're removing that. One thing I do think needs to happen is a free victors set for everyone. (make it an achievement or something that gets mailed to you after you win your first BG if the whole achievement thing would require BHS to get involved).
Now..the best part, class balancing which is another big issue.
First off, I completely agree, stagger lock is broken, even on warriors. I play a warrior, and I realize how gay it is and I try to stick to AStance, and even though I can fight Dstance warriors (barely) I can easily understand why it's so strong, since I can get locked down for 60%+ of my health. I've tried it, and although it is a cool combo, it is a bit over the top.
Ways to fix this....block CD is one thing, but people [filtered] a lot about that in PvE. I find that hilarious because of how few warriors I see trying to tank. From my experiences there's only a handful of bosses a block CD would even come down to be an issue (SG, AC HM first boss...I believe the first couple of bosses of MC HM, but it's been a while since I've tanked those). To tell you the truth, I'd love to hear *realistic* suggestions on a fix like this, but I'll say this now. It's not the auto attack stagger that's a problem, fix it if you want, but GOOD dstance warriors were never relying on that to begin with. If you were getting messed up by that, might want to rethink your play style.
Second. Lancer Giga / survivability with iron will. All I have to say is tone it down. You can't really mess with PvE too bad on this one, it might hurt a few lancers that like acting cool and doing a few tricks during queen HM with iron will / Onslaught, but it's not breaking PvE in any way. Increase the CD on iron will, maybe decrease stun duration on giga so the lancer doesn't have enough time on his own to chain his 4 second stun off of giga and that he actually needs an assist off it instead of doing it solo (because even with double 10% earrings it'll still land before you're out of stun).
Besides that, the main thing I can think of is sorc damage could be toned down a bit, and pillar humping is a little gay with some abilities, but that's about it on my end. One thing you can do if you want to nerf Dstance warrior / lancer / healer comps though, is just make it so you can only have 1 tank per group when queuing for 3v3, so lockout warrior Dstance or something (if lancer is in a group you can't use Dstance), or remove warrior / lancer teams all together. Might be interesting to see what comes out of it.
Thank you, I'd love to hear any comments on this. Also, I don't think these changes (the 5 listed above) are too major, and should be within EME power to do without BHS involvement for coding / etc. (though I could be wrong).
Last thing I wanted to throw out there (and hopefully this won't become the center of this thread):
Fix world pvp if at all possible, at least for guild wars. If you war a guild or get warred (at least on a pvp server, you can keep this off of pve servers) the only safe zones that should apply to you, are velika, allementhia and kaiator. Besides that, something cool to do would be to move the champion's skyring NPCs (and maybe fraywind?) outside of the main cities to locations in the world (1 per capitol city???) to force people to go out. Make a little camp around them with dailies or something that send you around, have the pvp gear sold there and maybe some other cool [filtered] like costumes that can only be gotten there. Dailies to go kill people, [filtered] like that for costumes (I understand it would be exploited and people would be trading kills, but better then what it is now).
