Small problem.

Trial accounts need a copy of the game too (code registered).

^^ this.
It is your connection, speedtest results notwithstanding.

Tera is very very sensitive to packet-loss. I had this problem, early-on with similar symptoms. Speedtests were fine. Didn't have disconnect problems with any other game.

It ended up that the 2-Wire router that AT&T had given me was a PoS and was just randomly dropping packets. Switched in my Linksys router and haven't had any problems since.

TL:DR - WoW has created expectations in the MMO playerbase that even itself could not meet when it first launched. Give Tera time. Keep the constructive criticism coming. Tera will evolve and get better.

Not an excuse, not the problem, but nice try.

Tera is evolving into an F2P Korean MMO.

Why not just enjoy Tera for what it is, rather than hate it for what it's not?

Hate is all they have left in their psyche.

Who are you?

Ah, right. You have quit, yet you continue to pollute the forums.

How generous of you.

*Situation, in many games*: With a ranged character, jump up on a rock, or building, and kill melee monsters without them being able to attack me back. These are how the mechanics work, as coded.

Is this an exploit, in your opinion?

No, it's not an exploit.

Then we have nothing more to discuss.

@Kunae - by definition there was no exploit. These guilds used the game mechanics as it was coded. Yes, these guilds went against an ethical boundary that many players setup in their own minds; but these guilds never cheated, hacked or exploited the game. They simply used the system that was given to them.

A single line in the code of conduct refering to an ambigious term "exploit" is not enough for these kinds of people.

*shrug*

Then they pay the price for their immorality.

It is not the responsibility of the Devs to spell out every single possible infraction. All that would do is give more fodder to "rules lawyers"(You should know that type if you've ever played board-games or PnP.) who will say, for example, in response to one of your rules listed:

"No kill trading":
******************** : " We weren't kill trading, as I was only killing them, so we did NOTHING wrong, according to your rules. QQ, etc.

So where did that go Carolius? Why is it all solo all the time? Skyrim and that ilk are great single player games. Why play an MMO at all if soloing is all you do?
I miss that old community.

As I stated, in the post Carolius quoted, what killed this was the massive infusion of "casual players", FPS'rs and RTS'rs that WoW generated. The majority of people who belong to these groups have zero patience at all. They are all part of the "I want to see progress on my character even though I only have 1 hour to play a week" crowd of whiners. These people created, for WoW, a massive bubble of revenue, which got the corporate executives, in all related industries, thinking about imitation to "cash in" on WoW's model, rather than innovating at all.

The only way that it might be possible to have a game with a proper structure, which you are lamenting the loss of, would be by an indie-developer, and published outside of one of the major houses. If any of the "majors" get their fingers in it, it will be hacked down to appeal to the biggest whiners on the net, as all the rest have been.

However, until EME sets a specific code of conduct, there will always be those with a lesser sense of honor or the "Play to Win" mentality that will use these loopholes/gray-areas.

All I've been saying, is that what happened was the fault of a too loosely defined system, and that I believe the proper response should have been to reset everything, and restart the competition with everyone understanding the very strict code of conduct.

Clearly defined in item #19, here: http://tera.enmasse.com/rules-of-conduct

19. Game Exploits: Your best bet here is to let us know about these instead of exploiting them.

And if you don't think what was done was an exploit, then you need to go buy yourself a new set of morals.
