Ladon's Post History

Wow actually it's not all that important discussion to have to make a new thread and call me out.

Let me lay down a very simple concept for you. Many people play Tera and not WoW because they don't like WoW. Not ever game needs to be modeled after it and in fact the ones that have usually are the ones that fail because people looking for a game like WoW....go play WoW.

These long winded arrangements for changing the enchanting system are ridiculous because it shows a total misconception at what the enchantment system is. It does not 'trap' the player in any way as high level enchanted items are not required for any content in the game. You can do all normal mode content with quest gear. Any enchantments simply make it easier but it is in no way required.

Hardmode only requires +3-+6 enchantments depending on your class and accounting for what your group role is. Yes that's right, you can do all the content in the game any only spend a few hundred gold on enchanting.

The biggest misconception I see is that content is tuned to make high level enchantments required. This is 100% false. High level enchantments simply make the content easier.

What this comes down to is entitlement. People hold false entitlements to high level enchantments then twist it around to being a requirement that they aren't able to meet with hard work so somehow it becomes a fault of the system rather than it being the fault of their very perception.

So rather than trying so hard to change a game under false perceptions, how about you try and change your perception a bit and then all of the sudden things won't be so bad.

And for the record I have dumped 10k in trying to get my boots from +8 to +9 but I still don't see anything wrong with the system. I've been doing hard modes all along then once and a while I'll throw some extra money into enchantment. Sometimes I get lucky, sometimes I don't but I see no reason to get upset as high enchantment levels are simply something nice to have, not something required.

Seyon, the very first thing that every Warrior Tank is taught is do NOT dodge through the boss. That's a DPS move. So what you are running into is DPS warriors. Not a Warrior Tank. My aplogies to you on behalf of my less than intelligent brethren, but that 5 star difficulty is there as a warning.

Like I said though, come the QotA2 patch, the entire thing changes. Warriors wont have to move much, or even bother using Evasive roll at all.

Oh, along with those changes, I expect you will see much more offensive lancers as your tanks since turtleing is highly penalized in the new Stamina system. So I think the DPS will be much more evenly distributed between the two.

Keep in mind, the added DPS of the Warrior comes at the price of a lot of interrupts and leashes that lancers have. I've played both, that difference is HUGE.

So far this is incorrect based on reports of QotA2 in KTERA. Dodging is still preferred simply because the stamina cost of block is so high and it drains stamina if you hold block. KTERA warriors are finding the most success treating the new block more like a timed parry so the warrior reactive tank dynamic is still very much there and it's still far cheaper resource wise to simple dodge heavy attacks. The block does allow warriors to keep the enemies a bit more stable and it also gives them tools against attacks that have always had longer/wider executions than the invincibility frames could overcome.

Yeah let's keep eastern style MMO mechanics and sell it to a market that is the polar opposite. That will surely be a hit!

Worked out perfectly fine for Final Fantasy 11.

The attempts already made to Westernize this game have been disasters and no doubt attempt to re-write the enchanting system will have similar results.

The game really doesn't need to change, peoples expectations do. Enchanting to +6 is cheap and easy because that is all that is absolutely required to do all of the content in the game. Anything over is a BONUS yet somehow it's become an expectation. The faster people realize this the quicker people will stop beating their heads on walls in a fit of entitlement rage whenever they fail to enchant something.

This isn't a complaint thread because I honestly don't give a [filtered] one way or the other.

So last night me and a group of guildies ran BT with a warrior dodge tank(obviously he didn't have tank buffs on because we didn't use LFD). He was dressed in all +7 t12 and no enigmatic weapon. Not only did we finish the dungeon(twice) with no wipes but we did faster DPS in the process.

Has anyone else tried this? And am I the only one who thinks it actually works better to have the dodge tank that can add DPS?

Yes but in the current state you'll be lucky to find 1 in 30 warriors that can pull this off. It also requires a warrior that has already run the content a ton not being a tank and learning the fights.

The changes are needed to make warrior tanking more accessible to more players and the one thing this game needs more of more than anything is more tanks.

The world was never made equal. If you made everything equal then there will be no evolution as everything will be stagnant.

Think of this, if everybody is rich, then who will work?

Except this is an MMORPG and the Western market naturally expect to be rewarded for their time put in and not dumb blind luck.
If we're going to make real life comparisons, would you be happy working a nine hour shift only for your boss to say "Sorry, I rolled the dice and you aren't getting a paycheque for your time in."?

Maybe they should have replaced all the swords with guns since apparently the game needs to conform to Western standards. People can't possibly be drawn to a game to actually get away from the norms of the Western market.
Yes iLevel increases with enchantment level.

The non-enchantable T12 items are stop-gaps between your quest weapon and your sleeper (enchantment weapons) though I wouldn't buy it. Run FoK some and I'll see one drop.

A few Blessing of the Goddess Scrolls have been my favorite so far. I'll take 100 of them please.

Then Bluehole should have properly mapped out their development times. Doesn't matter how long it takes the content to be made, its about planning for the development process's time demands. Cause honestly, no one cares if it takes them longer to make content than an "average" mmo which is debatable to be honest because there are a lot of variables to consider.

I'm sure they would have if they had unlimited resources. But Tera isn't that big of a MMO so they have to work within the resources they have.

Cause Tera 100% never reuses content right? lol.

Not to the degree Rift does, not even close.

Ok so this also applies to armor like the upper for example the 15% reflection stat? Would that only be able to be twice too?

Also can the gloves and boots get the enchant reflection as well or is that only the upper?

Correct you would only be able to get a random assignment of 15% reflection twice on one armor.

You can also only get specific stats on specific slots. You cannot get chest stats on gloves.

If I recall for gloves you can only get +power, +to impact, + to crit rate and boots you can only get +endurance, +balance, +movement speed. These two slots don't have any real special statuses like the chest armor and weapons can get.

All the cash shop items have already been out in KTERA for a while. They aren't 'wasting' any resources by adding it to NATera.

Actual content takes time to build and EME doesn't actually build this. New content is handled by Bluehole and we have plenty coming with QoA2 coming and all of this new content is free. They aren't making you buy an expansion or DLC to access it.

I don't know why people are expecting the same amount content as other MMOs that have been around for a decade or more.

Aren't Ktera and Rift around the same age now (roughly) and Trion has had no problem pumping out content. Just sayin. There is sort of a bar that has been set for the amount of content that even new mmos have and sadly Tera is just not reaching that bar.

See above. Rift content does not equal Tera content and frankly a lot of Rift content is copy and paste and is just quantity over quality.
