Lythos's Post History

I want enchanting to stay, it's pretty obvious by the state of the game, it's one of the leading factors to the game's success. Everyone in game is loving the enchanting system. They're having so much fun that they can't even go to forums to say how awesome it is. Whenever they lose their gold and receive nothing for their time spent they're so excited. Then when they finally succeed and get that +7 after numerous failures, the look on their faces when they realize they have several more levels to go on their masterwork. It's filled with so much happiness and cheer. Especially when they all had so many amazing experiences trying to lux it to MW in the first place. Who wouldn't want such a system to be in the game and be the main form of progression.

It's so skilled like they advertised, true-action enchanting ftw! Once I put those items in the window and hit enchant, that's when I put my real skills to the test. When my gamer friends talk about how they're diamond rank in starcraft 2, I'm like, "oh yeah?! well I just enchanted my piledriver to +10!". They're so impressed with my amazing display of skills, I can only help to try and hide my boastful glee. It even has a nice shiny glow to let me know, yeah, I'm that good. I mean before, I was being kicked out of dungeons for not having a good enchant, but now that I'm one of the cool kids, I get to laugh at everyone else too. "A +5 dayslayer? pfffttt, gtfo you skill-less noob!", we all retort as this peasant is promptly kicked from our party. A lowly +5er?.. Not in our party!

I mean, sometimes, when I think about it, I'm really blessed. It's almost like this game has become my second job. Maybe I can put it on my resume, experienced enchanter. Every day I go run FoK or BT, hoping to get some gold fodder for that days haul. Other days Ill just grind mobs in one little area nonstop for gold and drops, then I use some gold to buy alkahests, and hope my hard work will pay off. If I don't succeed I just try again tomorrow, I've ran these dungeons 70+ times so I know them very well, every day is a mindless grind of happiness. I'm very diligent at mob slaying, one time I was killing these sloth creatures for 6 hours! Needless to say, I'm pretty amazing at this enchanting thing, and it's really fun too!

So please EM, you're doing an awesome job with your innovative ideas, don't let these people tell you otherwise. The population is booming, server statuses are showing an all time high. It's just green pastures, as far as the eyes can see.

The root of the problem is that EME/BH has clearly not hired enough developers/programmers to create real content.

The reason Enchating is based on RNG is to hide the fact there is an almost non-existant endgame. In fact, magine if endgame gearing was the same as WoW, people would finish all of Tera's Endgame content in less than a month. It no suprise that EME/BH is using the articial contruct of Enchanting to force players to run the same minor content over and over again.

Don't expect any good amount of content to come out, EVER. Tera has been out for 2 years and the content level is pathetic at best. This is a clear indication that we will NOT see resonable content bumped out to justify Tera being a P2P game.

In short, EME/BH wants Tera to be a subscription game but refuse to make the investment needed to create content to justify the subscription payments. In my opinion EME/BH just plants to string people along with scraps and milk Tera until the majority of players realise that they are being played and leave. Clearly, no serious investment in made for the future of Tera.

That is my opinion at least.

I think EME/BH are aware of the problems and the simple solutions to the problems, I just dont think they want to invest the money to fix them. For humor I will list what they are:

(1)
Problem: Not enough endgame.

EME/BH solution: Create a ridiculous Enchanting system to force players to run the same old content hundrends of times (otherwise there is nothing to do).

Real Solution: Create more endgame, including more levels of difficulty as well as higher-end Raids and get rid of Enchating or drastically alter it.

(2)
Problem: Questing/Leveling is a shallow, mostly single-player experience.

EME/BH solution: Pretend this is not a problem

Real Solution: Create alternative means of leveling than straight up questing. Also create a sidekick/mentoring system to allow friends/guildies to level together.

(3)
Problem: RNG

EME/BH solution: Predent this is not a problem.

Real Solution: Get rid of RNG and create more content so that RNG is not necessary.

(4)
Problem: limited PvP options

EME/BH solution: We are creating more PvP options

Real Solution: Patience

@OP

It really depends what kind of gamer you are.

If you are a more casual gamer, Tera is great. If you are a more Hardcore gamer, Tera is missing a lot of "depth" right now (Endgame is super grindy and not fun, crafting is broken, Nexus does not work, Vanarchy is pointless, etc.)

So if you are a Hardcore gamer, i would recommend giving Tera a try in maybe 6 months to a 1 year. Until the game gets its act together, there are better games to play.

P.S. I am hoping that EME/BH will invest heavily into this game and maybe in a year do a "Reboot" just like Square Enix is doing with FF XIV.

ManSlayer on 06/24/2012, 11:07 PM - view
Hes probably upset that he wasted 60$ + a sub fee of some kind, cant blame him.

Lol, I cant believe I got my own post.

ManSlayer is right. I am upset for spending $60 + 3 month sub (the sub is my fault though not EMEs, I should have gotten only the one month one).

I do feel like I (we) have been scammed by BH/EME into buying this game. They attracted players with beautiful graphics and a cool combat system, while everything else in this game is a fake placeholder.

Buying Tera for my feels like buying tickets to a live concert event at a very nice venue, but when you get there you find out that the band is actually made out of paper mache and there a DVD playing the songs in the background.

I do not consider Tera a real MMO in its present state, I consider it a scam. I sad that it took me a month to see that the combat was the only real thing about this game.

I am posting in the forums while I am killing time waiting for TSW to come out. I am hoping that EME might notice the cumulative effect of people posting and at least come out with a public apology for the state of the game that they sold us just like Square Enix did with FF XIV (its not going to happen).

I personally feel sorry for the people who continue to be scammed by Tera.

P.S. At the very least, EME/BH should make the game F2P while they work on finishing the game and replacing the fake placeholder systems (Crafting, Nexus, Questing, Endgame, Vanarchy etc.) with real MMO systems.

P.S. 2. Its actually worth reading my previous posts. They are all VERY well thought out, I promise :)

I am going to play TSW for now.

Longer term I am definately looking forward to FF XIV 2.0. It seems like they are serious now into making it a real MMO.

According to sources, Project Titan is going to be a "Casual MMO". I am not sure what that means but I am NOT looking forward to it.
+ 10

Havent laughed like that for a while :)
@OP, if you are having fun with Tera, good for you. I personally dont believe it.

I mean, what exactly are you having fun with? The Nexus? Questing? Endgame? Crafting? Enchating? the Vanarch system? I am just really curious which part of the game you actually think its fun.

Sure the graphics are great and combat was fun the first couple of months, but after that there is nothing else. Everything else is just a fake placeholder. Sorry, but if you think Tera is a real game, you need to go and play some more games.

Tera was developed as a quick "get-rich" scam by BH. What they are selling is nowhere near a finished product or a real working MMO. Thats what I think at least.
Are we REALLY blaming the gamers for the reason Tera is dying? REALLY? We have to come to THIS?!??

You know what OP, ok sure, its all the gamers fault. So you sit here and continue being scammed into paying a subscription for a half-finished game, while the rest are going to get out of here and pay for games that are actually developed.

i said it on outher post and will say here too

the end of the game needs to be redone and rethought.

War between guilds are boring and stupid
Vanarch system is boring
the high level dungeons are repetitive and boring
Dailys farmer all day is tiring
The history of the game is not appealing to the public
There's only one way to level 1 to level 60 so that it is very tiring to repeat
Some capitals of the game are merely representative and disposable as poporia

I completely agree with this. The problem is that if EME/BH have not fixed these things by now (been a year and a half since the game released), i do not think they plan to fix them.

Everything in this game, except the Combat and the Graphics, is terrible. It is quite sad because the Combat the Graphics are at the A-1 top League level while everything else looks like it was designed by a kindergarderner.

I have NEVER seen such extreme variations in quality in any game ever!

RIght now I am particularly sad about the much advertized Vanarch System --- its pointless, boring and has no reason to exist. I dont know what the heck BH/EME was thinking with the Nexus. Can serious programmers think that the Nexus would work?? Lol its going to take them a year to fix that mess.

Questing, Endgame, Crafting, Enchating all are an utter and total FAIL.

Personally I am just waiting for TSW to launch in a few days and then I am out of here. :)

P.S. I said it before and I will say it again. Tera was clearly developed by BH as a quick money-grab. I think it started development as a real MMO, and that is why the combat and graphics are amazing, but then BH said F*** it, lets just make a ton of cash and move on instead of spending the money needed to design a full game. Tera is not a real MMO in its present state and it certainly should not be considered to be a real MMO.

It is like ordering a Air-conditioner and receiving only the motor. It is kinda of a scam.
