the MAIN reason I think RS was put in, was to make warrior DPS partying with warrior tank much more viable (also seen by BC no longer eating edge). As it stood before, warrior brought that extra 11.5% end debuff as main contribution to bring the total dps they brought (their own + what they increased other's dps by), but when in a party with a warrior tank, there was no need as the tank already brought that, so a warrior dps with a warrior tank was gimped some.
By removing BC's edge use, and adding reaping slash, they leveled things back out. Edge gen is ridiculously fast with a warrior tank and a warrior dps, and it gens far faster than the 10s it takes scythe to come back up. This means that warrior dps will be able to hit reap right off of CD, and scythe right off of CD, without having to wait often, if ever, to finish building edge.
If reap works the same from 5 edge as it does with 10, then that is even MORE true.
as only warrior, it can still be of use. With BD glyphed for reset and extra edge, and rob for extra edge, you build it fast if it resets even once. if it resets once, you could start with gen 10 edge for scythe, hit scythe, then have cs > rob > pb > cs which would gen 5 points in roughly 2.5s, hit reap, cs > charge > bd > rf > bd > cs > rob and gen 10 edge in roughly 6s.... so 8.5s betwene the two, add in reap's anim time, and at most you are looking at a full 10s, right on time for scythe to come off of CD.
now, it would not be an all the time hit, as you would need BD to reset, and obviously theres a 60% chance it will not, but if it does work out that it resets, then you ARE increasing your dps output, bc it hits harder than other skills besides scythe, and you are still able to hit scythe whenever it comes off of CD.
as to edge gen and being reduced to 6s? I have yet to have a problem with that, and I am a tank. dps should have no issues at all, and as to going 'suicidal' to hit it? the few times ive gone dps, ive just been overwhelmed with how ridiculously much unused evasion is available. for an attack thats coming right away, a roll out and behind and followed by a scythe solves that, for one coming in a few seconds, a scythe then a roll out solves that, so I see no reason you need to go 'suicidal' to get it off, or lose your edge stack.
