MethodicalMadman's Post History

Lots of excellent opinions here. I gotta tell you, I think I'm still on the fence, despite how bad I want to dive in. I think what I'm going to wind up doing is waiting for D3, playing it and seeing where I'm at. If I feel like I want something to supplement it (and, more importantly, En Masse works out some of these subscription problems) then I'll dive into TERA.

The world and it's mechanics are beyond interesting.

The problem, Adamaj, with spending $15 a month, is that if you don't play it, you're spending $15 on nothing. I don't have a problem paying $15 for entertainment a month, I get that point, but if I lock myself into a discounted plan and don't play, I just used money that I didn't have to. If I play for one month and decide I don't like it, I spent $65 I didn't have to (including the cost of the game). So it is a real debate. I don't have the money to be wasting. Which is why I appreciate all of the feedback, including yours.

I've been reading on this game more and more and I'm still extremely intrigued, but the billing issues are forcing me back from trying. We'll see. It's a long weekend.
Yup. That's the major concern for me. I teach, I coach two sports and I'm the strength and conditioning coach as well. That's on top of grad school and working part time as security at a club. So I guess I'm really asking if the price of the game and the sub is enough to keep me competitive/interested with limited hours of gaming.
I didn't mean the initial game cost, Raph. I meant a 6 month sub. (I would go with 6 because 3 is too short with D3 on the horizon, I probably wouldn't get a good amount of hours played) and 12 may be too long if I don't like it. I guess the initial cost of $60 plys another $60 for a game I don't play often is scaring me a bit. I don't have a ton of money to just throw around, but still, $120 isn't too large of an investment.

Thanks for the insight, though. I definitely appreciate it. Hopefully some others chime in.
I'll be upfront and honest. I vowed to never pay a monthly rate for a game again. Then I tried RIFT, found out I didn't like it and I didn't have nearly the time to commit to it.

I work a lot of hours, and I really don't have the time, or the money, to commit to playing a video game and paying monthly for it. But I've read some really great stuff about this, and if I paid for 6 months, $60 isn't really that big of a deal. But, I've been waiting for Diablo 3 for a long time now, and despite any opinions about that game here, I'm likely to spend a TON of my free time playing that.

So here's my question, and I'm certainly not trying to troll:

Is this game worth paying a subscription monthly while being a very part time player?

I'm beyond intrigued by the battle system, the class system and more. But I'd like honest opinions. The fact that I'm posting this means that this game definitely caught my eye.

Thanks for any and all opinions, I appreciate it.
