You can make the argument that having "the gear" means you are dedicated and want to make sure you are at the best possible performance. Not that this justifies skill...but it does give you an edge that would not be there if you were under-geared.

Should we be biased about people without gear? No, but we should be picky about people who have not put in an effort to work on their gear. Example; "I just hit 60, I'm going to tank MCNM!!" This idea, most likely will not work.

Tell the Ascension Valley server that the first NA Queen HM was downed with a slayer in t12 sleeper armor.

I get a lot of flak from people because 'zomg your gear isn't all MW/+12 blah blah hurr durr GEARSCORE (points to anyone that gets where gearscore comes from)'. Though I can take a rough bet that I probably tank better than 90% of the lancing populous.

Boy, I didn't realise RNG was an important factor. I mean, I would like to show up in MW/+12 gear, I mean [filtered] yeah, good times. But when you spend 15k+ gold attempting your 300th MW on your bleeding +9 Cleftwedge, only for it to fail, it's pretty damm demoralising.

Note: When I came back into the game, the first thing I wanted to do was tank mcnm lol. I actually tanked it fine, but the dps sucked (welp) so I called it before it turned into a disaster.

But yeah, Ascension Valley is pretty much full of egotistical [filtered]es who simply refuse to tank anyone below +10, but anyway, im ranting a bit now so I wanna talk about something else.

Next Topic: Resolve. So a lot of people have been going at me on this, going all 'why can't I hold my resolve at a decent level Mima-Sama! Please help me!' So I been wondering. How do you manage your resolve? Do you glyph into it? Or perhaps use alternate methods?

When people say that most instances don't need a tank...they are responding with the experience they now have. We are empowered because of the gear and knowledge of BAMs moves so that we feel it is now rather easy. Doing it a second/third time for an alt also makes this idea further etched in our brain.

But remember that first BoL? remember oh yea this game doesn't allow you to face tank too many things in quest gear? The game still requires someone to tank at lower stages if they are not familiar with the mechanics. Don't let them fool you...

I'm still of the opinion that people should still allow tanks to tank. I might get a lot of flak for saying this (ZOMG WHY U THINK U SPECIAL TANK) but I do believe that people should give tanks the time and paitence in the lower levels to learn their roles.

You learn tanking on your way to 60, not at 60. People develop their strategies and builds through own experiance.

So yeah, if the DPS are just charging in, being all 'hurrr Leeroy' and that, then the last thing I want to see is them [filtered]ing in my ACHM/MCNM run going all 'zomg why am I dieing gosh fail people'.

I am a pretty mean person, so I tend to shout at my group, but hey, nothing is worse then a angry Elin lancer who looks like she is gonna bite your feet off :D

You don't really need a tank for most instances before 60, so just go with the flow.

I dunno about that...Sky gardens would rip a non-tanked party apart.

Hello!

Just do what I did. Farm up cash and buy your abyss stuff, get it to +9 and lo, you are ready for anything.

Now if only I can find a static who won't prejudice me because of my gear.... (because gear > skill apparantly on Ascension Valley)

>Thunderthighs (Or MagicalThighs I guess, lol)

Note: Abyss for Lancers is cheap imo, a lot cheaper then others.

Necro'ing this thread because it deserves to be seen by new players.
Sup Nooblords. Best Lancer of the now defunct Dragonfall server has decided to finally play this 'Terable' game again.

So, I see some of the changes, also nice to know my once pretty little gear is now defunct thanks to Corpus and MC.

Also it seems the way to go for aggro is now purely damage, woo.

So heres a question for you folks, if you have a Berzerker in your party who is geared to the brim (Regent gear D:), how does one attempt to keep aggro when you have somewhat inferior gear?

Edit: Im Thunderthighs

Oh please, as if your opinion matters. XD

Psh, Fervid son, I am more important than Valentio, Gamble and that guy who keeps on being rapped on combined.
I am playing around with various glyph builds, mainly to see how much dps I can squeeze out of my lancer before I hit the 'lose aggro' threshold....honestly...they didn't really give us much of a playground to work with.

Currently working on a Atk Spd/Onslaught build which will allow me to make use of onslaught (Double crit rate glyph is just insane.) Currently I have yet to test it out proper, but the main gripe is the requirement of a couple of more master glyphs, namely to bring down glyph point costs.
