MoonlitDNC's Post History

I agree, the TERA video looked a tad.....poorly filmed & with a few of the more generic action scenes. At the same time though, I can't imagine that specific video was the same footage that was submitted for voting - it would have been insane for EME or whoever to submit footage of such low quality. (Heck, my desktop wallpaper of my in-game character looks infinitely better than anything they showed off there).

I've not seen it recently, but my family was constantly on Sims Social a few months ago - I'd be inclined to say that ~they~ deserve[[d]] the Tech Award over there.....

TERA should [[have]] absolutely win the art though, even after all this time, the character/race designs are still some of the most.....memorable I've seen in a while.

It's still nice to blend in with the atmosphere of a town. Guild Wars 2 had it added in fairly early on, so it's almost a bit of an insult on EME's part to have ignored the matter thus far.
You have to be kidding about the FFXI thing.

TERA struck me as being comparable to an MMO version of Monster Hunter (/Phantasy Star?) with the active combat and the quick quests - at least up to Lvl 20, TERA was NOWHERE near as heavy on story & lore immersion as FFXI was.

FFXI always required planning and group-teamwork over a long period of time to accomplish major goals, and TERA (at least as-is) seems to try to cut out most of the "journey" in favor of a constant stream of twitchy solo-friendly combat.

I'm of the belief that any changes to the original K-Tera game leaves open the potential to throw the game out of balance & wreck an otherwise enclosed & intended experience.

If you know others that play the game, draw there attention to this and get them to sign.
How hard is it to walk to the Tavern from the Isle of Dawn? My main hit Lvl 23, but got locked until I pay up - I wanted to see a nice RP group in action before committing to stick around longer.
I had simply figured hitting Lvl 23 would cause my XP bar to stop growing, and I figured I'd spend my remaining days checking out community events......WRONG!

As soon has you ~ding~ Lvl 23, the game messages you & says your character is getting booted & locked until purchase in FIVE MINUTES.

I had no time to say goodbye, no time to prepare, NOTHING. I was even considering joining a long-arse dungeon queue.....I could have dropped right in the middle of it....so sad right now..... (;_; )
Gotta get this out first - there are MANY spots on the maps that seem empty & have no detail, and most NPC dialogue & quest lore is non-existent/sucks in the 7-day Trial. I love games like Xenosaga & Final Fantasy for the cutscenes & story, and TERA has nothing good so far as I've seen.

......and yet I REALLY want to buy the game. Why? I hit Lvl 20 and got to fight two BAMs AND do a dungeon with a BAM at the end........just....wow.....

It honestly ~does~ feel like Monster Hunter or Phantasy Star with a BAM running around, but with vastly superior combat & MMO-ness.

FFXIV had a rather customisable, ~traditional~ combat system on release, but the game was 100% empty of personality & I quit even though I loved FFXI for YEARS. TERA seems to have the "personality" issue since it is lacking beyond its combat, but even the first dungeon played like a proper RPG dungeon (what I'd hoped FFXIV had done, but failed horribly at).

I honestly didn't believe it - the prologue is confusing, the quests from Lvl 1 - 19 are VERY "grindy" and sort of boring, but once you have a big group strategising BAM combat & dungeon kills, it feels like the stars align and a universe of beautiful action-combat opens up to you.......I truly am floored.
I was hearing stuff about Chebika - I'll probably give it a shot if I can.
I might be a bit late to the party with this, but I was going until 3AM EST with my group, & there were still tons of people around CH-Roleplay Lumbertown that were doing stuff.
