Mousse's Post History

Actually, I'm an Aman female. Just for reference too, this thing with SB never seems to happen against BAMs. It's mostly against minions and smaller enemies, which is why I assumed that it was going over them. I guess it could be that the range is much shorter than it looks and I was too far away. I'll have to try looking at the distance between enemies and experimenting a bit with it. But so far, it has happened at very short range, so I'm not sure. And it has happened often enough for me to stop using SB too much because it feels so unreliable.
I just came back to the game after a few months (before Resolve got implemented) and have noticed some odd things with the hitboxes of a couple of moves. First off, it seems that I keep missing and doing no damage with the first hit of Shield Barrage even if the opponent is standing right in front of me and the shield goes right through it. I don't remember it being like that. Is it because I'm an Aman and my hitbox is too high, or is everyone experiencing this?

Also, there seem to be some attacks that are going right through my shield. Like, I just tried fighting some Ovolith named Arakia that I saw in the farm and all of its attacks except its leg swipes and rolling attack were hitting me even if I had my shield up. Is this intended? Like, maybe to force me to use the new dodge move? I don't remember too much about Ovoliths, but I did fight a few last time I played and I don't remember them being able to do that.
Well, since my main has always been a Lancer, I guess that means the lower population won't be that much of a problem, then.
Just out of curiosity, are Lancers still in high demand?
I played for a while since beta in this server, but I had to quit for a few months (a little before the Tank classes got revamped). I just came back to the game and don't remember much about what I was doing and will be starting over. I was wondering how this server is doing.

I'm not much of an active RPer. I do respond in-character when spoken to in-character and I do enjoy that to a certain extent, but I don't really build complex backstories about tragic pasts or destined quests and I tend to ignore those of others, focusing only on the "now" (the current situation and character's intended personality). I joined this server back then mostly because I like everyone around me not having stupid names or saying things about their personal lives that I would rather not know. And I remember not being the only one who played in CH for these reasons.

However, it seems that the population of the entire game has been reduced dramatically, and I wonder if this server would still be a good choice for someone like me or if I should join the other PvE server instead. What do you guys think?

To be honest, I'd do the same if I was tanking, for weapons.

Armor?

A lancer's whole defense is on their shield, what does their armor do compared to holding down the RMB?

No matter how good you are, you can't block everything. Trash mobs are almost impossible to block if you're tanking many of them at once. And some bosses have attacks that come out fast with barely any warning and between the input lag in instances and the explosions and special effects of your team mates obstructing your view, they can be pretty hard to block. I'd say armor is at least as important as the weapon. Not saying kicking a party member for it is acceptable, though.

Edit: Forgot to say this, but also, the amount of MP drained when you block an attack depends on your defense. So better armor means you spend less MP, which is important.

Sounds like you've been grouped with terrible Lancers.

Dunno. Could be. But a Lancer who gets hit occasionally still sounds better than one that puts up his shield and goes to sleep and ends up losing aggro. At the very least, the ones I partied with could keep aggro and there were no deaths in those runs.

X_x That's... so not a reasonable individual portion...

I'm fine, I'm fine... I'll just excercise it away. *grabs a longsword and starts poking a training dummy* I learned everything I know about swordplay from playing Legend of Zelda on the NES!

$10 worth of real Slim Jims sounds like the better choice to me. Really, as ridiculous as the candy-corn hammer looks, at least it looks like a weapon. What's the giant Slim Jim of Death even supposed to be? Maybe in a different color it wouldn't be so bad, but as it is now...

*smacks Mousse with a giant Slim Jim* Yeah. . .this thing kinda sucks.

*attempts to the giant Slim Jim... but can't finish it* Too much Slim Jim... Too inconvenient... Not even useful as a snack... ugh...
