This is why I pretty don't pug anything outside of ToT...Lancer is my third 60, and while I do decent, I know I have a lot to learn. Pugs and learning are just pain, lol. Sometimes I lose aggro (using +12 regentip), but pretty rare unless I don't know a boss, and I blocked for too long. Usually it's my Sorc buddy that steals aggro, but I get it back instantly. I run pure aggro crystals/zyrks, anything I can to help until I have the talent to hold it (and I need to get my gloves to +12 to get that aggro added on as well). I only lose aggro when I block too long, and if I do I adjust my style based on that, blocking less, and learning when best to use Shout. I also have a 100% aggro when I use my attack right off a block which helps.
What I'm more concerned with, is boss placement. Keeping it still, or keeping it out of AOE puddles so DPS can get to it. There is a lot more than just aggro and blocking to good tanking, imo.
that last bit brought up a thought - When tank needs to move a boss, sometimes that boss takes a moment to move his butt - DPS blast him, of course tank will lose aggro at that point. Happens a lot: "move the boss!" "I'm trying, stop hitting him!".
