Nethereus's Post History

DPS might be a dime a dozen, but at 60 when you get gorilla stomped(literally)because your "damage dealers" are dragging their feet, you'll learn appreciation when someone who bothered to learn their class mechanics properly shows up.

Being one of many may mean you have to work harder for recognition but that does NOT mean you don't deserve it for doing well.

There was elitism in FFXI with no meters.

I just wanted to come back for a moment to address this specific statement. FFXI didn't have meters but as far back as pre-CoP, MNKs in particular were running damage parsers to determine which cesti were worth having since knuckle upgrades were less obvious than other weapons. It took about 2 years but the rest of the community eventually figured out that their former red-headed stepchild class was one of the most brutal DD/DPS in the game.

The reason I bring that up is because I'm not opposed to people gauging their personal progress. I believe it can be done without greatly affecting the community so long as it is limited to that alone. But I don't think it should be done using the "Recount" method of giving data in real time that results in raid leader rages between mob pulls.

To use it as a tool for personal improvement is fine. To use it as a means of holding other players accountable for not meeting your expectations is where the wheels on the wagon begin to come off.

I'm not against pvp, but I don't enjoy it being used as an e-sport dominated by the same gamer-jocks that host/participate in FPS tournaments and are generally sore losers and poor winners. All aspects of a game, pve, pvp or otherwise, should somehow tie into the game itself instead of being treated as a separate beast for those who think their playing preferences put them outside the majority.

Why not Vindictus? Lol..

1.) NX runs the economy. Say what you want about how much rare drops(Glas Torn Pants, Elchulus's Teardrop)cost, but if you aren't a regular buyer/distributor of NX, you're bending over to meet the prices of those who are.

2.)Defense stacking. The game has been reduced to acquiring so much defense and attack that you can block everything with your face and a boss fight that lasts more than 8 minutes(Elchulus not included)is because "the pug sucks".

3.) Browse the forums for one hour. You won't have to look hard to find several threads that drip with vitriol.

4.) Nexon continues to release events/NX depot items that undermine the work of the dedicated few that still strive for greatness without trying to cheat the system, which leads me to...

5.) Cheaters. A lot of them. Botters, exploiters, script kiddies, you name it.

Great. I hit the cap(on the LAST day, mind you), got 2 golds out of SM, farmed BAMs to buy the rest and +6ed all but 1 of them before the servers went down. Looking forward to starting Saturday with a complete set of exceptional gear.
Gangaloo, I think with the current state of things, people are going to have their opinions, but no one is getting flat out denied a group position unless it's an issue over loot competition. That should be as far as that issue goes.

If there ARE people out there giving players the shaft because the Koreans told them X class was vastly inferior to Y and Z, I haven't yet encountered it and I would put them in the minority in this community.

I honestly feel that an archer will be pretty valuable later on due to the nature of the game. They're mobile plus they can stack poision (so even when they're dodging they still put out some damage) and their dps isn't that bad at all.

I have a feeling that Archer damage isn't bad after the current buffs. However, that's how the KTera community feels about them... because they were bad before. Once you gain a reputation, the stigma is hard to get rid of without numbers to back up claims.

I suppose, but I'm speaking purely from an NATera perspective and I would hope to god this community isn't already so boggled down with KTera players buying into Korean propaganda that they're going to bring the "Koreans play it this way" arguments to the table every time the community tries to come to a consensus about the state of the game on this side of the ocean. Had enough of that in Vindictus.

No.

Yeah you don't need DPS meters and flow charts to figure some things out. They're useful not only for proving/disproving class ability, but other things as well. Those other things should be blatantly obvious.

Edit: Besides, while the class comp sounds good in our heads. Can you say for certain that it's ACTUALLY the best? Can you claim for certain that after the Archer buffs, they're still low tier DPS?

No, but the numbers won't lie and those who rely on class DPS anonymity to get their foot in the door will lose that advantage.

So the solution to morons who make assumptions is to obtain concrete evidence that validates their claims? I fail to see how things can only get better.

Fail to see the point huh?

Point is, regardless of whether or not we have meters, people will be doing the same thing. Meters don't make a difference.

Then who needs them? As I stated before, who actually has a repeatable DPS rotation if they're actually engaged in the combat in this game?
