"Premium Services". Cute.

I remember when paying a monthly subscription fee used to get you a premium service. Now it seems like it only covers permission to play the game as released, extra fluff not included.

I'm fine with customers paying extra for services like name changes, server transfers, etc. But things like hairstyle changes.. these are elements some other MMOs include within their product as part of the features within the game. Why not here, EME? I guess we're not getting a barber in Tera anytime soon. Wouldn't want to provide too many niceties and cut into that bottom line.

This post pretty much sums up my opinion on the matter.

One of the main reasons why my husband and I decided to play this game was our deep disappointment in the MMORPGs that follow the so-called free-to-play model. We thought it would be nice to have access to everything an MMO has to offer for $49.99 plus a monthly subscription fee, but as it turns out, the money we pay isn't enough to entitle us to "Premium" content. Today it's ridiculously overpriced weapon skins; tomorrow it will be costumes, pets, mounts—who knows; the fact that we have to pay more money for in-game content is what bothers me on principle, and I, for one, am not willing to do so.
While I understand the writer's point, he is too focused on his personal opinion about attractiveness and what a female character's armor should or shouldn't be like. As a straight female player, I love TERA's character designs and fashion. I think there is something awesome about going around the world slaughtering monsters while looking like a supermodel; there is no way I would like my characters, neither male nor female, to be "appropriately" and "functionally" armored.

It's too bad that some people are so adamant in judging fantasy armor based on sex. Some of us are drawn toward this game for its sheer beauty and not just out of desire to see some virtual skin.
I played both Vindictus and Dragon Nest. Both were fun for a while, but eventually became horribly repetitive since their basic formula involves running an instanced dungeon ad nauseam in order to complete various quests through a completely linear story.

Another issue with both games is that they offer only four (last I heard) gender-locked classes with underwhelming customization options. If you want a character that looks anything more than generic, you have to pay. If you want those cosmetic changes (i.e. hairstyles, costumes, etc.) to be permanent, you have to pay even more.

And, of course, there's the pay to win issue, one of which most irritating elements is the fact that you need to pay a considerable amount of real money if you ever want decent inventory space (for each individual character).

Granted, I am very disappointed in the free-to-play model and would rather pay a subscription for a higher-quality game with good customer service than continue playing grindy, lower-quality games that end up costing more in the long run. Just my opinion.
So, will the free mount be available to people who pre-ordered the regular edition before obtaining the PAX promotion code? No one at the booth told us otherwise, but I became confused upon reading the words, "if you pre-order with the code".
