I don't supposed you've noticed that every class suffers from flinching? While I agree it hurts Berserkers more due to charging skills and melee range, if another class is doing their wind up animation is drops them out of it as well. So, boo freakin' hoo.

Don't suppose you've also noticed the speed and consistency of which other classes can still get their damage off? Warriors have many fast attacks. Lancers have Shield Counter and other tools to setup or lockdown their target to commit to attacks. Slayers have a variety of tools to increase attack speed, including how many abilities combo into others allowing consistent DPS. Archers can kite from range, have snares/stuns, and can much more feasibly recover from lost charges. Sorcerers also are from range and have the tools to keep it that way.

What the hell does a berserker have? Oh, look, I lost a charge from a toenail scraping me. And now the enemy jumped the moment I swung again. That's two. Wonderful, as I get in close it started to [insert invulnerability mechanic here]. Three charges. Yay. My mana's gone now, too. Perfect.

I see zerkers that don't lose their charge on bosses by playing smart they can still have good dps. And again, not all classes are created equal, the zerker is not a 1v1 pvp class. It however can dominate in group pvp, and has been known to be so for months if not a year. You are obviously wanting a different class.

With the exception of changing the language and removing features (shops, pets) what was westernized? Why are we at the mercy of a development team that has no concern with the success of this game in this market?

Adding FFA PvP, GvG on PvE servers, changing weapon glow, toggle outlaw(yay), prologue.

We've been getting things Korea doesn't have, so clearly our games are not identical.

Actually PvE servers themselves are a westernization as they do not exist in Korea or Japan. Westerners like pve servers and hate being forced into pvp.

The enchanting system was westernized, more xp for questing was added, the prologue was added (which I might add has no effect on the rest of the game). Red instead of pink glow for +12. Elin armor changes, removal of eggs and boxes. there are more too.

I don't do the nexus, because they are a boring, laggy grind. That being said, I don't understand what anyone's problem is with people getting PvP rewards from PvE.

The ONLY reason to be even remotely upset is because BGs aren't out and you can't PvP to get the gear.

Complaining that you CAN get it from PvE (though right now it is the only way) is akin to being a whinny little [filtered].

Carry on.

But what about the those of us that dont like PVE? Why release a game in a market without those elements that will maximize your income through the best advertising of all...word of mouth. Right now Tera has a black eye in the US market because a lot (not all) of people are unhappy with the constant state of being behind. Why do we have to wait for the Korean market to get stuff before we do, why dont we have our own development team with knowledge of this (meaning Western) play styles in mind?

because the game is the same game as Ktera. You don't localize a game to make it it's own game. You seem to want something that is not Tera.
Nope, they are the same games, just one is westernized (which is not drastically changing the game).
Goldenelite on 06/12/2012, 02:04 PM - view
WHY DOES THIS GAME HAVE TO BE A CLONE OF KTERA?!

Im sorry for being irritated but I see all these posts and all these responses and the common denominator is that we all have to wait for Ktera. Why can't we have a game that's westernized as advertised, they should be developing this game with the western market (that they released in) in mind. Not waiting for someone else to do it and then half [filtered] copy/paste it.

The game is westernized. the game can't be drastically different from Ktera otherwise it becomes like developing 2 games rather than 1.

Well you are right that this will be a dead game very soon, but you are wrong about pvp rewards for nexus being the reason.

Tera is really, really aweful at endgame and I'm honestly embarrassed that I paid for a 3 month subscription.

Lets count the fatal flaws in design and execution, like the MF'ing Count from Sesame Street:

1) NO PVP WHATSOEVER

2) NO RAID MOBS WHATSOEVER

3) Enchanting system is punishing, random, and makes you DREAD getting new gear and starting the whole process over. I didn't think an MMO could possibly make you dread finding awesome loot, but Tera manages to do just that with a fun-killing enchantment system.

4) Ultra-Linear, mundane questing.

5) Oversaturation of safe-zones along with the "channel" concept KILLS world pvp before it begins.

6) ZERO incentive to pvp

7) Unimaginative glyph system (reduce mp cost by 88???) resulting in little to no build-customization

8) Extremely long Queue times for dungeon finder / extreme tank shortage

... this game is poised to go straight down the toilet. I'm calling it now, there will be 3 or less servers in one year's time.

1) I could log into a pvp server and find pvp almost immediately. Don't know how you aren't finding it.

2) Coming. The 5 mans are funner than any raid I've done.

3) money sink, needed to get money out of the system. One of the few effective ones I've seen in an MMO recently.

4) Just like most MMOs. Despite it's linearity, you can still skip entire areas.

5) I agree with the safe zones, however most pvp takes place in areas with either none or very few channels. Good groups learn effective ways to search channels as well.

6) Hmm... could had fooled me with people pvping just to pvp and starting wars and deathmatches for it. PvP is a reason in and of itself to pvp.

7) So just like all MMOs. Always cookie cutter builds.

8) So just like all MMOs.

Whirlwind does not have a passive that removes damage share. Only knockdown strike. Your cyclone will be getting something to remove damage share, so get over that bit.

Considering I just learned it last week on my slayer, yes, it does. Both have a passive, I think by level 8, that removes damage share. I won't get over a thing, either, until EME and Bluhole know about the disparities and we know they're being fixed, so can the attitude.

Then it was added far after I had maxed my slayer. The disparities are being fixed. You are getting a boost to cyclone so it doesn't lose damage against multiple targets (so again get over that fact). The other fixes just aren't what you want. You seriously seem to want a slayer with higher burst and better survivability. If you wanted a good 1v1 class then you should not had rolled a zerker. It's been known for ages that they lack in the 1v1 area but are amazing in groups. Shorter charge times will also help with mobile pve bosses. The change in health cost with fix mana issues,

The game is balanced around level 60, not all classes are created equal in the leveling process, along with not all classes are created equal in how the perform in various situations. You cannot have a class with the potential to oneshot, good maneuverability and being able to take a hit. You'll point to sorc but they lack the ability to take a hit and can be 100-0 in seconds by one person.

Could the zerker use some more lovin? Maybe, wait to see how the upcoming changes actually effect the pay of the zerker

EME has nothing to do with the pvp gear being given for nexus. That is all BHS and will not change until battlegrounds are re-emplemented in the summer. It was done to make it so you can still get pvp gear with BGs being in the game as there is more to pvp than instanced BGs.

I see nothing about it killing the game. If anything the poor design and performance of the nexus is killing the game more than the pvp gear for them is. Once again though a fix for that is in the works over at korea.

It actually has everything to do with EME. Stop using the excuse that poor EME is the victim of BHS's evil tyranny. They have the ability to change aspects of the game, and they have made changes to the game already. Look at the enchanting change, all the things relevant to crafting that were removed, increased XP from quests, this was all EME's doing.

The PvP rewards are no different. They have the ability to remove gear from the game if given reason to do so.

And you say that poor design and performance of Nexus is killing the game but getting the absolute best gear from it isn't a problem? Very logical argument.

Actually, absolute best gear is from crafting. Again, I'll tell you again, there is more pvp in this game than just instanced battlegrounds. If pvp exists in the game then pvp gear needs to exist. Just because you don't like how it is acquired doesn't mean it is killing the game.

By the time you've completed the kick stun the average well-geared slayer has crit for half your life. Stick in one place for the stun trap and that's another hit or two. Breakaway bolt takes you barely out of range, and most all melees have another dash to take care of the gap you've created.

Have you actually played an archer at level 60?

You have no idea how fast a skill for slayers come out. About the only skill for the slayer that comes out faster than the archer's stun that can hit for half your life is fury strike and even then that requires the slayer to be low hp. The slayer can use his startling kick to stun you and get a big hit off, or he can use stunning backhand to do a short stun that often wears off before the next attack even comes out. After a back stab it all comes down to how fast you get your stun off and whether the camera glitches for the slayer and points them in the wrong direction.
