Orien151's Post History

no one thinks this is the best game ever. if they do in its current iteration they are madly insane. this game has too many short falls currently for anyone to say that.

is it enjoyable? sure to a degree for a period of time... but more is needed.

TBH after playing beta some of my high hopes were already gone out the window for it being a "game changer" type of game. but i still enjoy playing with guildies and i've never mind k-mmo grinder types so the questing is fine to me.

gw2 has a lot more potential to be long lasting than Tera does at this point though. It has much more mass appeal which is sad because with the action combat system Tera had the potential to draw a good amount of non traditional mmoers but is losing that.

probably less to do with your post and more to do with responses. i didnt see the post link it if you want though or turn this one into a discussion for that, lol.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of 60s are running the normals and then venturing into the HMs finding them to be a wipefest because the majority of people i've run into in game are just [filtered] terrible and turn HMs into wipefests, and then QQ'ing about lack of content.

also a lot of people are just saying "no raids!!??? where's teh contentz!!"

I don't know what is specifically the issue with players in the West, and why Asian looking games do not seem to do well, despite the fact that there's a large mainstream market for anime these days.

Because westerners are almost always impatient children with ADHD who hate grinding and only want to play the game, max in a week with best gear and PvP until they get bored. Whereas Asians enjoy grinding and PVE and stuff like that etc. That is why this game had to be 'westernized', so impatient Americans could actually stand to play it. If it was left as a grinding MMO nobody play it and the game would fail miserably.

That is an over generalization. It's really only certain generations that display those sorts of traits. Grindy mmo's were successful in the US early on. EQ and FFXI are some of the grindiest mmo's that were ever successful and they were tremendously successful in the west. It's simply that those games predate that newest generation which was raised with the ADHD/McDonald's mind set. Also american children didnt use to be told that they are special and unique snow flakes from birth to 18 when they graduate public schools.

So instead of trying to expand your horizons and try something new and different you'd rather it be catered specifically to you.

Welcome to America...enjoy your stay!

I've been seeing this mentality in most MMO's since WoW. Not sure if WoW propagated it or it is just a sign of the times, but there is a considerable "entitlement" attitude amongst gamers today...and it seems to be more a Western thing than any other...

WoW was the beneficiary of extremely wonderful timing.

1) Warcraft was at an all time high in popularity after all the WCIII love.

2) they caught the mmo bubble just as the nozzle was being inserted intot the balloon and they kept the valve open with an ever expanding balloon on their side.

3) they caught the burgeoning generation of 90s babies who are far more computer oriented than previous generations. most of their education has taken place on pc and e-platforms.

4) america has been in a steady decline into contentment. just looking at it from a macro perspective. the US no longer researches anything. We reproduce what we and others have researched in the past. Contendedness and complacency arent really good things and this carries over to the general mentality of people here.

5) Planned obsolescense/Fast Food culture. Everything is demanded now and expected to be given now in America(and many western cultures). Patience has gone out the door. We have toddlers that have an iPad as a toy. We shove food that is basically garbage down the ever fattening gullets of our children. Sloth is not a good trait. It also carries over to general mentality.

4 & 5 are negative factors in America right now but I think it's apparent how easy they are to capitalize on.

We all like to knock Blizzard, but I think it's apparent to everyone at the same time what the secret to their success is.

People complain about things being dumbed down and what not. But the more people you appeal to the more revenue you create and the more you can do with your game. You can create niches for high end PvE players, Hardcore PvPers (clearly we didnt see Blizz do this), and other sorts of things.

Now the current state of WoW is pretty bad at the moment but that doesnt change the fact that people still go back to it after trying other games and not liking them. SWTOR has failed, Rift (as small as it always was) has pretty much failed, etc. Those players are all back on WoW for a reason.

I'd suggest you find other things to do with your time. Staring at pixels has an adverse effect on your personality.

I have 1 60 and 1 50.
I find it extrememly amusing that the OP would make this post with such a tone. As if the concerns he mentions weren't noticed and thought of by 99% of people who have played the game.

Way to go OP you're part of the 99%.

Anyway obviously these are some of the flaws in game. Who knows if they'll address them or not. Only the future will tell. They appear to have some plans to address some of them already but 3 months from now the servers may very well be emptied out the rest of the way. Not sure the deployment schedule is quite in line with people's expectations.

Why do people say this when this game doesn't even f*cking have group PvP. If we are talking about world PvP, no sh*t a zerker will do better in group PvP because world PvP is a numbers game...

What is the actual role of berserkers in this game, I don't get it?

You are a bad player. That's all there is too it.

Are you honestly saying that you play a class w/ plate armor, a block that block 80-100% of incoming damage (in this setting), and in a group has a healer watching his health bar and you still fail?

yes the problem is all on your side. just like you were told in that other thread, you are trash.

Berserkers role in Tera - PvE - #1 Melee dps at current time. #2 dps overall behind Sorc's.

PvP - Can soak a good bit of damage if played correctly. Can stun, knockdown, and just plain old put up big numbers against pretty much everyone (numbers on lancers are less big and mystics can genuinely be a p.i.t.a).

tldr version:

You're doin it wrong.

lol @ the welcome to berserker comment.

archer is in so much a worse state than zerker right now. atleast zerker can actually be passable if being maximized and in ideal situations.

archer in ideal circumstances is still totat crap right now. too bad as they are always one of the more popular classes in mmo's and i think it has killed many players enjoyment of the game.
