Pyrolight's Post History

I think one of the really big issues for me is that the game is still behind a lot of other games (content wise) at launch, which considering the game has been out for a year in Korea is very very depressing.

Besides the issue with BGs and lack of raids there is a real lack of time killers (fishing, cooking, achievements, etc.) in TERA.

Also the fact it seems to be all but dead in Korea (the coding team is there) raises serious concerns about future content.

Another thing I find problematic is how sterile crafting is. I can't really put a finger on it as to why but it is just really dull to make items.

TERA has great combat, great graphics and interesting character (variety) designs. The rest is really ho hum and (crafting as example) awkward.

TERA as a game does have great potential but lets face facts it should still be in BETA. It is a real shame too.

Had TERA had launched with Rift level content and development speed it really could have been a hit IMO.

And ultimately, just read this thread.
http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/general-discussion/topics/Kicking-Lancers?page=1

You'll understand how it *does* affect me, and many others. It's already happening. I went out of my way to make people's experience with my tanking as positive as possible, no matter their class or ability, and I've never been this tempted to just go back to SWTOR permanently. Sure, there are three classes that can tank there, and a lot of competition, but at least no one has easy mode and no one is kicked or demeaned because he doesn't have a super godmode buff.

That is neither here nor there with regards to the buff. They are kicking you as an act of revenge.

The fact warriors are as good as they are for the moment is icing on the cake for some people.

You would be getting kicked in QoA2 unless the tanking buffs to warriors were utterly awful.

Again it has everything to do with there being two tanking classes now not the overpowered status of Warriors atm.

To the topic at hand.

Then

1. Most people don't think of warriors as tanks.

2. Most warriors didn't try and tank.

3. EME didn't allow warriors to queue as tanks.

So now you are over a month into a game and most warriors will not know the boss fights. If you leave it to QoA2 you have tons of warrior tanks with better (but still hard form the looks of it) tanking mechanics and a playerbase that has 0 interest in giving Warriors the time or day to really learn.

This patch fixes a few things.

1. Warriors have an initial period were they really get to try to learn the basic mechanics.

2. The slowly reducing buff means warriors get a chance to "skill up" their tanking in a way that touches on point 3.

3. The playerbase gets the concept of warrior tanking in their minds.

Sure the EZ mode aspect will cause some problems but it would not even compare to the issues that would have happened with the QoA2 patch and Warriors suddenly being able to tank with what still will be far more difficult mechanics then lancers.

Lastly to the second part of your post it might have had some legitimacy if this was still around launch and people were more willing to put up with the extremely steep learning curve on warrior tanks.

Two months in is way too late to try to start that.
Might just be the default timer they used.

This is a Petition for P2W features to be removed and kept out of TERA. This is a PETITION, not a discussion. If you want to sign, either say "+1" or "/sign" at the beginning of your post.

+1 to removing any P2W features if they are actually ever added.

BTW OP you are posting gibberish.

Then what a wonderful and interesant life you have, doing nothing more than read a forum of a game that you dont like.

Oh right, that's what a "troll" is these days, sorry, go on.

Some people just can't get off the ride and walk away, they have to piss and moan about it for ages afterwards.

I think it is a matter of vindication for them. If they think it is bad they won't be satisfied until everyone thinks it is bad.

That being said:

While TERA has a ton of potential it needs a ton of work.

It can easily become a truely great game but BHS needs to be more Trion in design speed and less Blizzard/Bioware.

Someone is taking a vaction from Tera.now.

You might very well be joining him.

The whole problem is you don't seem to understand some basic concepts. Best Graphics? Very subjective and real gamers don't give a [filtered] about graphics, It's the art style. I'm pretty sure blizzard could blow Tera which is made by some no name company out of the water if they wanted to push players systems, or go in a seperate art direction. The thing is it's not going to change because THAT IS THE ART STYLE.

With the existing engine WoW has, no way in hell.

Also it is very unlikely a Western company will ever hope to match and eastern one in overall eye candy in a MMO.

Do you ever wonder why some games art style doesn't change like Mario for more realisim? Because it would look super retarded.

Rift went for realism, realism clearly does not apply to TERA or WOW.

Most Korean MMOS have this super slick Final Fantasy look with Plastic Women and Bikini thongs

One of the aspects that annoys me. I would love to see more toned down armour.

What PVP? you mean the ganking and all the safezones that prevents real PvP?

Sounds like real PvP to me, or at least OWPvP.

No Tera quite literally is a grind, You know those unrewarding Troll glyph boxes? Yes a grind and a waste of time. You know how you need to grind money for broker or farm normals for 50+ until you are able to +8/+9 everything before doing something with the slightest bit of challenge versus the mindless grind

You are right but that is endgame.

WoW on the other hand this is how an Expansion goes.

Why are you talking about an expansion?

Gain needed levels through a large variety of quest types with new interesting monsters not the same stuff you fought at lvl 1 lvl 9 lvl 20 lvl 30 lvl 50.

1. Large variety? Sorry but that is just nonsense. I am trying to think of leveling quests that were not escort, fetch and kill.

There are some cap rep ones and a few story ones but the VAST bulk were the same thing over and over.

2. 1-60 WoW was much the same as 1-60 TERA. I am not sure why you are talking about expansion mobs.

And I DiD every quest in tera EVERYTHING is Gather object, Kill 20 monsters, Collect 20 from monsters, and kill 3/5 bams you killed a hundred times already.

WoW 1-60, 60-70, 70-80, 80-85 and so forth. The variety of mobs only changes when you are in each expansion.

Again comparing the difference in the mobs form vanilla to and expansion in WoW vs Vanilla here is beyond stupid.

So your max level well and waiting for your raid group to catch up so you grabs some gear. Que random dungeon with 8 selections, Collect loot or enchanting materials for your time in the dungeon and some currency to Buy/ Upgrade gear if you got an upgrade go to AH and drop 100G and make it shiny and apply for instant upgrade if you didn't get any loot ohwell.

When your raid group is ready it's ok if you don't have the best gear from dungeons because if you are good at your class you can clear normal modes / collect some nice gear. The following week you can instantly begin Learning and tackling Heroics raids because skilled players don't need gear. Gear is a means and tools to help the player, not the end. When your final raid day of the week is there leave plenty of time to clear the rest of the zone then come back next week to progress with your raid having experience on bosses and a little stronger from upgrades.

Did you just say skilled players don't need gear for heroics in WoW? Maybe the best guild on the planet could step into a heroic raid undergeared and do it but 99% of the players could not,

Regular raids in Wrath (and post nerf Cata) could be done undergeard, Heroic ones could not.

WoW isn't a grind because you aren't playing for gear you are working on challenging bosses not farming gold to grind your gear to beable to attempt the Heroics atall.

I am sorry but Cata before the nerf was exactly that and TBC was much the same.

The only time WoW was more about skill vs gear was wrath (since the curve was so low).

I will give you there is more grind here but to say WoW was about challenging the bosses and not the gear is silly. You have to have the gear to do the bosses. It was what WoW was based around.

Now don't get me wrong, WoW is a better game then TERA IMO (even looking back to vanilla) but the comparisons you are making are baloney.

I personally like the current model of crafting. Large grps (Guilds) pooling resources together for a few crafters.

Certainly beats the alternative of having 4 alts leveled to 60, max a different craft on every toon, and never use the services of other people.

The self reliant crafting system is old and boring and played out.

I think a mixture would be nice.

Anyone can get the normal stuff to cap but it would take a crap ton of time, guild or money to max out the more rare stuff.

More or less like the Vanilla WoW system. You could cap stuff like BS out but holy balls it was work.

Also just do not do the FFXI style system... I mean it would be freaking funny to watch the reaction but damn it would suck overall.
ReiKoji on 06/11/2012, 12:37 PM - view

If k-tera didn't have the crafting quests, the very same quests they removed prior to OBT with no reason given and nothing in any patch notes about their removal, this post would be valid.

The quest system was terrible IMO.

They should improve the flow of the crafting instead. Quests should be a bonus not a requirement.

That being said the craft quests were better then what we have now.

Hempboy - as the original OP you have made your point, but you have overlooked a point.

First off this post was made to draw attention because of an issue with art that was not fan art related at all. When a problem arose, the artist contacted EME and was linked instantly the ToS - which caused more questions and concerns.

This thread's purpose was to make artists aware of the ToS and issues they may possibly face if they run into problems that may require assistance from EME.

1. It was done in a very dramatic fashion.

2. People did scream about IP "ownership" many times.

3. People were trying to demonize EME for a very standard policy with regards IP ie actual games vs hosting sites.

4. How in the hell was this not about fan art?

Maybe if people had not overreacted and went fully into "injured party" mode Hempboy would not have felt the need to post the reality of the situation regarding IPs.
