Please quote me where I said it was wrong to speak about "the topic at hand?" Go ahead, I'll wait.

Ok:

id0l on 04/27/2012, 10:06 PM
Take it to PMs or CS if you're seriously that butt-hurt about eggs. Or, here's an IDEA: Start your OWN THREAD!

Why should I do any of this when I can simply post here where it's appropriate? Why is it wrong to talk about the topic at hand, IN the topic at hand?

id0l on 04/27/2012, 10:06 PM
I hinted that you might want to check your attitude if you actually want an answer from an EME employee. Usually addressing people as if they don't have a name ("Hey. You.") isn't taken with much respect

I'm being lectured? Listen, I didn't use a disrespectful term; If using “Hey you” towards someone you do not know is a crime then my god, why aren't their more people incarcerated!?

id0l on 04/27/2012, 10:06 PM
My entire point was regarding not addressing somebody you want information from, like an a-hole.

Yet you addressed me like an a-hole. Despite the fact that I neither said or did a thing to you. If you have a problem with my "attitude" you could've simply sent me a message saying "Hey you! I personally don't think your message was appropriate, it would be great if you toned it down, thanks!" like someone with manners would. Instead, you doll out a 5-6 post tirade (quoting me in a number of them) while I'm sleep and now... I truly don't have the sheer willpower needed to muster a respectful response to each and every point, so I'll simply respond to this one post, which ends with:

id0l on 04/27/2012, 10:06 PM
Clearly you think the world revolves around you and that by the power of God the heavens better open up and provide you with an answer, and it better be NAO. Grow up and learn how to address people respectfully

Clearly I think the world revolves around me—why? Because I legitimately want answers pertaining to a product I purchased? If something you purchased is suddenly missing pieces and the fault lies on the company, do you go “Oh well, that’s fine. Who needs this thing that I actually liked anyway! I won’t question a thing!”

People voiced their concerns about the new colors and you seem fine with that, yet I make an issue of the other content which was completely removed and you have a fit? Because you don’t like the way I speak? So that’s enough to go on a tirade and lecture someone addressing them in a far "harsher" tone? Because you are above politeness now because the term “you” is an unforgivable insult? I’m totally astounded by you and am quite curious to know the thought processes at work behind it (not really, but I am astounded nonetheless). I mean, really? All this because I said “you”? You should count how many times I used the word “you” in this post alone by the way, and gauge how insulted you (there’s another one!) are by them. Not at all, right? Because you wouldn’t be insulted by such a commonly used word like "you"—you'd would think. Or rather, I'd think.

Look. The eggs being removed was a questionable design choice, as such, we question it. When we see they took the time to address some concerns but conveniently leave out the rest of the concerns—not so much as mentioning them slightly—it bothers people. Bothered me; so I post about it. Bothers others; so they post about it. If you don’t see why people don’t like how they handled it then you need to do some soul searching or something, instead of venting your confusion on someone else.

Players complain that game is too easy. Players then whine about alternate crystal source being removed. Oy.

My deepest sympathies to the developers and community managers. The astounding self-entitlement and ad-hominem defensiveness gives me a headache.

People have purchased this game, such people are entitled to give feedback about said product that they purchased. When did this stop being the case?

I don't like being the person who says stuff like this, but really: If you don't like the feedback then you should probably stay out of the appropriate forums where players give their feedback about the game they've invested money in and have an appreciation for.

Crazy concept, I know, but people tend to get upset when things they not only like, but have put money in, is being shifted in a direction they do not approve of, and tend to voice their disapproval when they can, in the hopes the people at the top will listen. With En Masse this is clearly not the case--they don't seem to listen at all--but this doesn't deter people from voicing how they feel.

Perhaps you should try addressing someone that you would like information from, in another way, other than sounding like an annoying 6 year old with an attitude problem.

It's funny because you refer to me a 6 year old when I didn't say anything nearly as offensive when I referred to the person in question.

But hey, whatever, I'm the bad guy yeah? That's fine. Nothing you say is bad or wrong, it's all me, etc.

id0l on 04/27/2012, 06:08 PM - view
BTW, she didn't "ignore" you or "all the posters." In fact, most/at least half of the replies were regarding the new hair color implementation.

And I didn't diminish the fact that she did. I simply asked her to address the other half of the people's concerns. You don't save half the people in a burning building and casually ignore the rest. You don't then say "HEY, DON'T TALK TO THE FIREFIGHTERS LIKE THAT, THEY WORK HARD. SO WHAT IF THEY DIDN'T SAVE THE REST OF YOU ENTITLED 6 YEAR OLDS"

See where I'm getting at? Probably not but I'll continue.

id0l on 04/27/2012, 06:08 PM - view
Stop acting all high-and-mighty.

I wasn't. I said she didn't address the rest of the communities concerns and she didn't. I said I thought it was a sad sight to see and I thought it was. Where is the high-and-mighty attitude?

id0l on 04/27/2012, 06:08 PM - view
She was addressing a major concern in this thread, because this change *could* potentially cause people to re-roll (I wouldn't - but some would).

Again, I didn't take anything away from the fact that she did address their concerns. But what about the rest of the burning building, so to speak? Should we casually ignore them? I guess so, according to you. Otherwise we'd be acting too high and mighty to have those concerns addressed.

id0l on 04/27/2012, 06:08 PM - view
Eggs won't 'make' you restart a toon.

Never said they would. Why even bring this up?

id0l on 04/27/2012, 06:08 PM - view
Or, did you stop to think that perhaps she doesn't have the answer to your question(s)? Take it to PMs or CS if you're seriously that butt-hurt about eggs. Or, here's an IDEA: Start your OWN THREAD!

Here's the thing, fellow poster. This is a thread about the updates. I'm talking about the updates, in the thread about the updates. Somehow it is wrong, according to you, to speak on topic about the topic at hand?

We worked hard to get these hair changes in but we just couldn't get them before the early character creation.

We have an idea to help those of you in need of a change. Details are coming soon (like today soon).

For folks who are wondering about whether there will be a way to change appearances. :)

Hey. You.

Could you actually address the other concerns players are having instead of acting like they don't exist. You casually ignored the all the posters here worried about the eggs and did not even attempt to mention them in your response. It's a pretty sad sight to see, really.

tl;dr

EPIC WIN!
Agree.. Agree.. and O agree some more.

See the first post here:

It's not about getting our way. It's about En Masse making stupid decisions and the community genuinely worrying about the result of said stupid decisions. But hey, you only hear what you want to hear, right? Us "sniveling little brats" "cry" too loud for you and (apparently) En Masse to pay attention to. Shame, really.

CRYSTALS drop almost EVERY single TIME from BAMS.

No one said eggs didn't drop from BAMs, why even bring it up? We are not complaining "OH NOEZ, NO MOAR CRYSTALS QQ", we're saying, the volume of them will be reduced because of the egg removal. And they will be.

Midianknights on 04/27/2012, 12:05 PM - view
EGGS were originally EVENT ONLY items. they were thrown in as quest rewards to help people play during beta. they have finally rectified this stupid choice made back in CBT1.

You clearly do not know what you're talking about.

POTIONS are made by ALCHEMY yes thats right, your very own guildies can make you potions. i mean you do have a guild right? you know that group of upstanding individuals that helps each other?

Ah, yes. Remind me: What are the ingredients needed to craft a Stamina Potion? I'll wait.
Really, I will.

So.

No Mischief Boxes... and now no eggs? Really? REALLY?

There goes the crystal market.

I'll go ahead and resign to the fact that you people are terrible and have no idea what the hell it is you're really doing. I won't even bother getting mad at this.

Good day.

So Lancer is favored until the Warriors get a "Cheat Death"-like ability to mitigate that one unlucky hit, and learn to Tank without dragging the BAM all over the place. And Mystics may actually be favored over Priests due to their ability to both heal and buff, but Priests are still the go-to until Mystics prove themselves on Hardmode content. DPS is DPS, and nobody really cares as long as they're not stupid.

Is that a decent summary of the debate so far?

Pretty much on the lancer/warrior deal.

Mystics can heal in hard modes fine; it can get tough for them at times but a good mystic will still manage in the end.

And the DPS... well. People can be picky about the DPS, especially for hard modes. In one instance, it's a DPS race to down the boss once he gets to a certain point; if you can't drop him fast enough the entire party wipes and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. There's another DPS race in the other instance that makes the boss do a hard enrage if you can't win fast enough, s/he will ultimately wipe the party as well.

So it takes DPS not being stupid, as you said, and being decently geared/skilled on top of that.
Incorrect on 04/25/2012, 01:54 PM
Ah, sorry, I was referring to "farm content" and not the extreme example of 'level 60 hard modes'. The fact that it's possible in some dungeons is what I was getting at.

Oh, I completely agree on that note. When you mentioned farm content I figured hard modes because besides crafting, the only way to get T13 gear is to do those runs... so people typically farm... eh, you get where I'm going here.

And with hard modes... the bosses there can one-shot you with an unlucky crit. So if a warrior isn't always on their toes with their dodges and find themselves open--they could go down frighteningly fast.

Incorrect on 04/25/2012, 01:54 PM
For PUGs, I think lancers will be sought after since the margin of errors allowed is higher than a warrior tank.

The thing is... lancers can aggro entire crowds of enemies, gather them up in a corner or another convenient location, and tank them in one place. This lets party members peel off the enemies with ease; warriors do not have the ability to do this to the same degree. Same for bosses; Lancers can position the boss to face away from the party and keep them in one place, warrior is a little too bouncy to achieve the exact same effect. So I believe Lancer will be faster for clears, and the most efficient (even outside of pugs)/less taxing on the healer, as while warriors do have damage reduction on some of their moves, lancers can just outright negate damage from hits (barring the chip damage from those unlucky crits from bosses)

Now, I do know Warriors are getting no-cooldown dodges which use a new stamina bar instead (lancers also get a stamina bar) but no one really knows for sure how well this will work. It may make warriors viable tanks, but I have my doubts on hard modes, at least, for the reason stated above (unlucky one-shots).
