Rishathra's Post History

If the item you replaced the bound items with is enchantable (which it will say in the description much like it says for extractable, remodelable, etc., you can use the bound item as the consumed item in the enchant (along with alkahest available from most merchants). Enchantable items start appearing more often when the gear level is 30-ish and above.
Buying Tera is not like signing a cell phone contract. It's more like getting a magazine subscription. They do require you to pick a plan type at sign-up so they know what amount to charge you at the end of the 30 days included with the game. If you choose a 3-month subscription, you will get charged for that on the 31st day and every three months thereafter until you cancel the account. I don't know how En Masse plans to handle cancellations, but suspect they will handle it like Blizzard does with WoW cancellations. Blizzard doesn't refund any unused portion of the time already purchased. After you cancel the subscription, you can continue to play until the subscription runs out much like a you continue to get all magazines in your current subscription even if you choose not to renew it. I don't work for En Masse, so this is just my understanding, but I'm pretty sure it's correct.
You've got it. It's 30 days included with the game, then your subscription kicks in. That said, you must pick your subscription period (monthly, 3-month, 6-month, year as I recall) and sign up with a credit card for the recurring billing when you purchase the game initially. You will be charged for the game immediately, but won't be charged for the recurring charge until after the first 30 days.

For example, if you chose a one-year subscription, your credit card will be charged for the yearly subscription as soon as the initial 30 days ends. You can play one hour a year or five hours a day - same charge. If you find the introductory pricing to tempting a savings to bypass (for a lesser period like month to month or three month), pick it up that way. Play the heck out of it the first 30 days and make up your mind to let the one year subscription occur or cancel your account beforehand.

I might suggest adding the troubleshooting tool at https://tera-support.enmasse.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/216/kw/diag for those that have problems getting the game to connect. I have a rather strict firewall in place and had to open outbound port 10001 for TCP (and 443, but that's https so pretty much everyone has that port open). The diag tool pointed out the issue. My firewall log had the same info, but not everyone can get logs.

Oh, and https://tera-support.enmasse.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/374/kw/Payment%20Authorization%20Failed is good for the dreaded "Payment Authorization Failed" message.

Okay! That's one worth printing out.
If you go directly to En Masse's site at http://store.enmasse.com/store/tera/DisplayHomePage do you see the section that says: Upgrade to the Digital Collector's Edition? It's $9.99 USD. With the $49.99 for the standard, you saved yourself a WHOLE $0000.01 USD!!!

I'm pretty sure that's what it's for, but I haven't tried it myself.

I just spent the better part of four hours just paying for Tera. Now, I'm 1 hour and 20 minutes from finishing the (first of many?) downloads of the game. I'm certain this quest can be solo-ed, but I grouped with GM Grand.Master.Yoda of En Masse for this one. This probably belongs in the Answers section, but I'm definitely a Newcomer, and this held me up for quite a while. I'm glad I didn't rage quit though. Here's some suggestions to possibly help other Newcomers. (Warning: Spoilers!)

My first issue was just signing up for an account at En Masse ( https://account.enmasse.com/ ). I was using NoScript with Firefox 12.0 and it blocked a cookie from iesnare.com. That's a very unfortunate name because that sounds like the sort of tracking cookie that NoScript is supposed to block. Don't do it. The iesnare.com cookie is actually part of a fraud prevention system from Iovation ( http://www.iovation.com/ ). I believe it's part of the Account Armor system, which is something you'll see noted under your Profile tab in the My Account section. Mine says Enabled: Yes, but "No" does not really seem to be an option.

In fact, I never got purchasing Tera to complete at all using Firefox 12.0. Firefox 12.0 failed miserably with the message, "We're sorry. The payment method selected is not available for your location. Please select another payment method." I don't think it's that Firefox inherently fails, but more likely, one or more of my extensions is blocking or interfering with the flow. Either disable all of your suspect extensions or do what I did instead.

Use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. GM Grand.Master.Yoda said that they have had better success with IE than other browsers. That's not the first time IE worked where Firefox didn't, but it's very rare. Try it.

That wasn't the end of the journey, however. With Internet Explorer, I still got the dreaded error message, "Payment Authorization Failed." Grand.Master.Yoda pointed me to the answers post at https://tera-support.enmasse.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/374/kw/Payment%20Authorization%20Failed that has some suggestions. The key was there. Make sure the Billing Info you typed into the En Masse store matches EXACTLY what your credit card company has on file. Mine failed because I'd entered my cell phone number rather than our land line number. I recommend logging into your CC company's web site and looking character-by-character.

It's also handy to be logged in to see if the payment actually goes through. There's generally a delay on the order of 15 minutes, but a charge from DRI*ENMASSE.COM/SUB* should appear. If it does not, you may need to do some digging at the credit card company's web site to see if the transaction was rejected.

When and if this all eventually completes, there will be a Download Game link in you My Account --> Account tab. Downloading the game is the next adventure. Still got about 40 minutes left. ...

Come on! Come on!
Please! Can't we all just get along?

I would think any of the photo/content sharing sites would work. Look at getting an account at flickr, photobucket, picasa, pinterest to name a few. Maybe you can link to photos on facebook. Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/ is the one most people seem to like. I know pinterest has been picking up momentum, too. ( http://www.http://pinterest.com ) Most or all of these have free accounts.
Thanks much for the post; that obviously took a while to type. I'm still just taking a peek at the game, and this kind of information is quite helpful. I would say that if you "log on casually a few hours everyday," I wouldn't put you in the "casual player" category. I played WoW off and on since just after it's introduction and 3 or more hours a day is pretty hardcore. There were periods when it was more like 5+ hours/day, but that was generally when major new content was opened or a my guild was making a push for something. That said, it's nice to know that even in the game's current state, you want to log in that much, and you are finding things to do.
