Ryunoske's Post History

mmos never get horses right. and people that know better are basically told to suck it up and deal. the only mo that ever came close to getting mount animations right was sadly Age of Conan. Even when the mounts turned they were realistic. Mammoths did not turn on a dime, especailly when you were going at top speed. The horses dug their feet in when you stopped them suddenly.

They got the animations right because they used top of the line animators to capture the sights sounds, etc of real horses. But the game itself was cruddily made, ironically.

Even so, anyone who has spent even a little time with horses knows their muscle mass, bone structure, etc. The horses in tera have disfigured front feet, and their hind legs dont move as smoothly as an equines should.

We could make the argument that tera is not a realistic world ...sure. But if a creature with joints and bone structure such as tera horses were in the real world. they would be unable to hold their own weight, walk, or even eat.

the armor alone would cut into the horses flesh, be extremely uncomfortable, make it hard to relieve itself, and would weigh too heavily on it. Jousting armor found in medieval times, was heavy but was lightweight for the horse. Rpg's arent real life of course, but i digress.

It will always be a controversy of ppl who care and of people who dont. In the end though, I always say, how many people would cry if the vehicles, characters, monsters, etc moved in a clunky manner. If anything else in the game besides mounts moved horribly, it would be corrected as most of the community would complain. Mounts have always and will continue though, to take a backseat. It shouldnt be this way, but it is. Want it to stop? Dont give them money.

On a similar note, how many of us have unsubbed or plan to unsub at the end of the month. I already have and everyone i know has. Ive seen though server population has drastically dropped. Perhaps if mmos spent a little more time on the little things such as this. People might be inclined to stick around. In this case though i think it was more of a communication or lack thereof.

bottom line, mmos have always had the attitude of doing the least while making the most profit. They could hire good animators. But then it would cost more money for a game they dont know the profits for. Consoles will always have better animations for this reason.

Except the LOTRO store is not a fluff store at all.

You need points to unlock some content: http://www.lotro.com/lotrostoresale/1573-lotro-store-quest-packs

Or you can pay your sub and earn enough points to get some content for free.

Tera does not have that.

Edit: I somehow skipped this entire part from your post, but it still overpowers the store from being fluff.

trust me it's fluff. I played lotro for a while when it went free to play. I bought ONE MONTH thats $15 then I cancelled my sub after that one month. I got 500 turb points which bought me an expansion, i got a free month of game time for a specail going on at the time. I also got all the pre order items AND some extra items to help me lvl, AND a free riding skill. not to mention the game actually allows you to earn turbine points IN GAME.

did i mention Lotro has a walk toggle for christs sake?

I don't believe those items should be bought with real money. They should be rare items from difficult quests or rare drops from BAMs.

^ this is the basis for a p2p game. this is what your monthly payments should be going towards. These vanity items not only look like crap, but they are priced like them too.

Why not introduce a quest line where the end reward is ONE of these skins for your class. If you want it again you need to do the quest again, the quest takes a long time to complete, in other words...more money....since

p2p is time=money.

exactly. and they will probably get a good amount of money out of me too...because

im

not

paying

monthly

these gaming companies are retarded. they could make so much money if they just didnt act like money hungry [filtered]s.
these scenarios are acceptable to me:

1. it is a free to play game, you pay for the game ONCE, then from there it is all micro transactions until a new expansion that you have to pay for if you want it.

2. it is a pay to play, and the only things you can buy are transfers/gender changes/facial changes. Hair changes and other non "plastic surgery" type changes should be in game ONLY. Everything else is included in the game you pay monthly for.

3. There is no cash shop, there are no vanity items. There are no server tansfers, you still pay $15 a month for the game, which includes a POLISHED game with ALL CONTENT reachable through within the GAME and time donated towards getting the item.

Nothing else is acceptable. Nothing.

Why the flying eff am I paying EME $15 a month towards future content, items, etc if all these good looking vanity items will be in the game (for an extra $10 of course!).

Answer: I won't

I was going to stick with tera and not play GW2. Grats EME, you just lost a group of us to GW2 by your own greedy hand. GG.

Lets hope you are right, and lets also hope that you reach 60 and have plenty to do in the game with future patches of game content.
Lets not hope is that the development team spend more time and subscription money to create a bunch of items per month to put on the cash shop for you to buy while you sat in the city bored with nothing to do because they did not have time to create new content patch.
I honestly hope you are right since i wish the best for this game.

And by the way you should not be disgusted of people for having their own and different opinion, you might not agree with them but not not disgust, you should me gust.

^
Just what the topic says.

They should have laws against luring players in like this and then trying to hassle money out of them. Before our free month is up even....what? couldn't wait to rob your community just a tad longer?

I BUY P2P SO I DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH CASH SHOPS. Where is the warning that there will be one implemented!?!? I NEVER would have bought this game had I known!!! NEVER.

Will EME refund players for purchasing a game they intended to PAY 2 PLAY, not PAY and CASH SHOP to PLAY?

I bet you dont have the guts to.

Because youd lose so much money it would make your pants soil.

I feel bad for you typing all this out for a locked thread.

im a fast typer.
skip it and deny yourself the ability to say something intellectually constructive

close it and add anger to the community and therefore more closed subs

people cannot be swayed with four letter words and empty forum powers. You are only harming yourselves.

Hey, EME close it. Go ahead. Itll tell me everything i need to know about how you intend to run this company. Free speech is free speech. There is no threat here, only truth and opinions.

Close it.....
I don't know, it doesn't sit right with me. who even decides the prices on these pixel items? $10 for a skin you can use on ONE character. A $24 micheal jackson special. Really?

the amounts are too much for vanity items that don't look that cool in the first place. For $10 those skins better be able to catch the eye of someone from far away, someone who will envy your awesomeness and whisper you begging you to tell them why you look so cool. It better glow like las vegas and sparkle like a prom dress. These skins have no POP. They just are what they are, and some of us really know what they are.

the cash shop came out too quick when there's tons of other things they could be doing to interest those of us who have hit 60 (not including lvling alts on the side)

appearance change, hair customization, all of that basic stuff should be in game available options.

Name change should always be a tad more because you don't want people to use it to escape consequences from the server for bad behavior. Same goes with transferring from PVE to PVP servers in games, because it can be abused if it's too cheap.

Changing your race or gender should be a cheap amount always as it requires little to no work to implement this or from EME to do it for you, and it has very little threat for abuse.

Since when is it considered "ok" for these mmos to release bare minimum content and start asking for more money for the "cool" items? The past few years have seemed to be a downward spiral of companies pushing the brink and seeing how little they can give, while maximizing the profit that goes directly into their pockets after they make back the money it costs to make the game itself.

NO this is NEVER acceptable, you either charge monthly and you're P2P, or you don't charge monthly and put a cash shop in place. You don't get both. A lucrative game should be successful only because it was well made and fun. Not because you were able to devote hours that could have been made adding more content, into adding a few items you could pawn off a small and ignorant/stubborn percentage of your games community.

A lot of people have an extra $10 lying around, the point is that instead of trying to rob us of that $10 they should have put in a long quest line with that being a reward, or a reward off a BAM kill.

P2P means just that, the companies should be focused on keeping us in their games, so we spend more time and they make more money. Cash Shop was an idea conjured up by the eastern game developers who thought that paying monthly for a game wasn't the way to go. It is an ALTERNATIVE to P2P, not an ADDITION.

EN MASSE, like a few other companies trying to push this faulty logic onto unsuspecting consumers, feel that they can have the best of both worlds. Truth is EME, you can't. When you try to do this, something will always suffer, in this case, by choosing to prostitute yourselves for a few cheap looking overpriced items, you are also choosing to overlook adding more content. I am willing to bet you already have lost some people because they are bored, thought certain things would be in the game at release, aren't enjoying the game as much as they thought, etc.

But now you are adding to that, people who lost faith in you because of this cash shop deal. If you had added more content, with an awesome reward at the end, or even better...REWARDS. These things could have been a cool way to draw people in while keeping those who were on the fence.

people can argue all day about if its a lot of money or a big deal or not. But the honest truth of it is, as consumers we have the responsibility of telling companies when certain behavior is acceptable. If you accept this, then every company from here on out will think nickel and diming you is their right. It is NOT their right at all people. I would agree to doing both if the game itself were cheaper OR not a monthly game. But to blatantly try to screw people without at least taking them out to dinner first, that's just not classy.

Yes blizzard does this, but notice how I said it wasn't classy to do it. Notice how i also said consumers set the rule book for what is ok and what isn't. Too many people paid blizz for flying ponies and fluffy chipmunk pets and now these other companies think they can do the same.

In this mutated and horrid economy gaming is one of the only hobbies people have left that don't cost an enormous amount of money to enjoy. Yes it costs a decent amount when you add up the computer, the game itself or if you need more than one copy. But adding on these additional "options" whereas players can spend even more money for vanity items or for better items, not only presents a moral dilemma for those of us who want to believe in the companies we do business with, but it sets the bar these game developers have to meet as far as how hard they feel they should work to make the buck, and at the cost of OUR wallets or in some of your cases, your parents wallets...

Why polish the game so well when a few group of idiots will buy a pink and purple polka dot pony for $20???...why exactly.

Disagree or agree with me, it matters little. But the core truth is there, if you allow these companies (NOT just game companies) to insult your intelligence, to predict that you are sheep enough to fall in line and pay what they want you to and rewarding them for doing so, to not question their motives or the validity of their honesty and look the other way with you wallet WIDE open while they help themselves.....

they will not only refuse to stop this behavior but demand MORE and MORE giving you LESS and LESS until gaming as we know it is just utter crap. Until the day comes where people like you and me say things like " I remember when..." and "The way things used to be..."

I might leave this game over this, and if I do, I think I will be done with P2P games altogether. Too easy to burglarize the average consumer who wants to enjoy a polished game.

TL:DR Your voting with your wallets people, you're voting for the outcome and quality of future gaming. Choose wisely.
