mmos never get horses right. and people that know better are basically told to suck it up and deal. the only mo that ever came close to getting mount animations right was sadly Age of Conan. Even when the mounts turned they were realistic. Mammoths did not turn on a dime, especailly when you were going at top speed. The horses dug their feet in when you stopped them suddenly.
They got the animations right because they used top of the line animators to capture the sights sounds, etc of real horses. But the game itself was cruddily made, ironically.
Even so, anyone who has spent even a little time with horses knows their muscle mass, bone structure, etc. The horses in tera have disfigured front feet, and their hind legs dont move as smoothly as an equines should.
We could make the argument that tera is not a realistic world ...sure. But if a creature with joints and bone structure such as tera horses were in the real world. they would be unable to hold their own weight, walk, or even eat.
the armor alone would cut into the horses flesh, be extremely uncomfortable, make it hard to relieve itself, and would weigh too heavily on it. Jousting armor found in medieval times, was heavy but was lightweight for the horse. Rpg's arent real life of course, but i digress.
It will always be a controversy of ppl who care and of people who dont. In the end though, I always say, how many people would cry if the vehicles, characters, monsters, etc moved in a clunky manner. If anything else in the game besides mounts moved horribly, it would be corrected as most of the community would complain. Mounts have always and will continue though, to take a backseat. It shouldnt be this way, but it is. Want it to stop? Dont give them money.
On a similar note, how many of us have unsubbed or plan to unsub at the end of the month. I already have and everyone i know has. Ive seen though server population has drastically dropped. Perhaps if mmos spent a little more time on the little things such as this. People might be inclined to stick around. In this case though i think it was more of a communication or lack thereof.
bottom line, mmos have always had the attitude of doing the least while making the most profit. They could hire good animators. But then it would cost more money for a game they dont know the profits for. Consoles will always have better animations for this reason.
