One has true action combat, the other has a crisp soda flavour. Which one will kill the other.
Well I wouldn't describe Pepsi has being a TRUE action combat, it's more of an action rpg....
The day a game like Blade and Soul gets canned is the day I go back to free-to-play garbage owned by Nexon. XD
So I've heard Tera be compared to Guild Wars 2 but I don't see the similarities. The game I feel Tera is most like is Blade and Soul, and up-und-coming MMO.
1. The two games both have sleek, glossed designs and delicious eye candy in the world around you.
2. Both portray their females in...less-than-modest outfits (complete with long sexy legs and high heels on almost all characters).
3. Both have action-based combat against big enemies with no auto target and combo-based (possibly collision-based) fighting.
4. Both have the token loli child-like character with big honking animal ears.
What do you guys think? Tera rival? Another boring action game?
The part that bugs me is the first part. It's pretty unique. I can only think of one game almost exactly like it, and it's not even out over seas yet! Granted most arcade-style games like Dragon Nest and Vindictus share some simularities but those are instance-based.
Oh well. I've learned "professional" reviewers aren't people you take seriously. Most of the time the review is skewered to give a game a better rating than it deserves.
Normally if I see people working on a BAM and they're not doing so well I just run over, taunt, and continue to defend without actually hitting the enemy. As long as I keep doing that I don't score damage (thus can't KS) and ultimately hold the BAM's attention while the other guy does all the work and gets credit for the kill.
I've been experiencing troubles with the community too, but not just in dungeons. Right now the LFG chat on my server is littered with trolls. Normally they're ignorable, but it's gotten to the point where if anyone asks a legit newbie question (because they're, you know, new.) they get the 4chan treatment and are shot down. You get people asking how to do better at tanking, the ultimate response is "to not suck." or "reroll and stfu." They spend their time talking about crude content that shouldn't be in a chat designed to locate other players for BAMs and dungeons. Yeah, I get it's the same thing as a general chat and that's how people use it, I'm fine with that. But the trolls even yell at people for using the LFG to look for groups, spending their time talking about twisted stuff like raping someone's child. It isn't game-quitting bad, but it is irksome. I left crap like Maplestory to get away from these kinds of people. Now I hope there's a server- changing item for sale one day I can use.
What the hell's a DPS meter? Who cares who does the damage as long as the damage is being done?
I like to perform at my best, which is why I'd like one to help me figure said best out, I don't need one, but it is a nice tool.
But you're performing at your best if you beat whatever BAM you're fighting without trouble. Who cares if you do 100 more damage than the other guy if you BOTH beat it? I never understood the need to have the biggest numbers in a game.
Efficiency, I guess, that and I'm a very competitive person.
But the meters for me are less about the damage I'm doing and more about measuring my over all performance.
Trust me, if you can work with the team well enough so no one dies then that's the only performance I care about. maybe it's because I'm not meant to deal damage but seeing someone's big numbers isn't impressive. You can deal a billion damage for all I care but if you do something stupid and get us wiped, then blame someone else I'm going to see that instead of the damage you might talk about before the actual dungeon.
My main is a priest this time around, as I said, I want my over all performance tracked, for me, so I can see where I can improve myself.
To each his own, I guess. All I can say is I'd rather you be doing bad damage but working as a team to beat something than to do massive damage but ignore the rest of us.

*sigh* I'm sorry, but whenever I look at a castanic I can only think of satyrs or deer. ._.
