After researching the terms of service there is actually nothing wrong with this choice of name. If naming a character after RL was an issue than most characters named something such as Honey or Luna or Sally or some other name or word that exists in RL would be banned. Bunyan is a name. It is not copyrighted, in fact it is considered unlicensed public domain. Furthermore after inquiring about naming issues with EME support I have received the following reply:
Greetings Ski.
This is Gm Vassgo here.
I'm happy to hear that you want to make sure before you decide your character name.
There is already a filter system in place with name creation, so you can try the name and see if it works.
If this name does not work, then it is probably flagged as too inappropriate for our M rated game.
If you have any other questions please let me know.

In the end I was asking a general question about the name and what others thought. I really should have realized what I was asking before I posted and come to the conclusion that it is not always the best advice to query the masses. The answers are usually not the ones you seek. So I am going ahead with my Popori woodchuck berserker named Bunyan. And I will ensure he tells many a tall tales in the Celestial Hills realm and maybe one day he will live up to the infamy he creates for himself.
