Just to get the alternative view out there - I just canceled my pre-order after playing CBT1-3 and EU CBT 1-2. I'm a pvper, and as innovative as the fps-style targeting is, it's still just the same class/level/gear-based MMO.

My reasons:
1) one-shots in pvp
2) chain-cc in pvp
3) healing can never match dps in pvp

These three alone means this is not a skill-based pvp style game, but rather RNG-based. Now I can add BoP to the list, among others. I hear a lot about things being different in end-game, but I'm not going to waste 100s of hours in the hope that we'll have skill-based pvp down the line. If in a few months the feedback shows it's skill-based, then I'll check it out.

I would NOT recommend pre-ordering.

Love all the flaming. There sure are a lot of promises, "it'll be different at end-game."

Maybe you're right, but I'm not going to hold my breath so I cancelled my pre-order. I'll check in from time to time and if it truly seems skill-based in a few months, then maybe I'll give it a shot. Tera has a refreshingly innovative fps-style targeting system. But sadly after that, it's the same class/level/gear-based MMO.

Agree, but do not forget that controlling ow/boss/dungeon are also incentives to PVP. I dont kno what incentives meant OP, but for me incentives are not rewards that Game gives to me for PVP, i like mroe to take over rewards from other players.

Controlling a Boss is reward in some sense for me , controlling castle is also incentive but the problem is that in Tera are no important world boss and no Castle. All you can do is controll the map, but u can take that map for free, withotu fighting for it becuz nobody needs that map since all useful worthy things are in instances (dungeons and BG).

Thats the problem with Tera.

I had a long week and maybe I'm just tired ... but when guys on my team are getting one-shotted ... well that's not exactly the kind of PvP I was looking for. Who cares if it's BGs/Arenas/OW-PvP, but getting crit for 10-20% more than your hp pool is going to my my time in Tera very short lived. Skill-based pvp. Ha. Losing interest fast.

You don't want ow objectives because you're afraid the big guilds will farm it...

... but then you want ow gold farming spots ...

... so that the big guilds will farm it???


Sorry, but I fail to see the logic of your post.

I'm all for better loot/gold in ow, that will definitely promote owPVP, like I originally said ... sorry to hear you're in a small guild that just won't be able to compete.

You seem hung up about how skillful you are at PvP and really want to swing you epeen around in the arenas, huh? Let me guess, you probably also want leet-uber+1000%dmg-pvp-gear as a reward too... If folks really want instanced pvp so bad, why not just go play LoL or DOTA???

Thanks for that amazing EU link that shows pictures for JTera that we've known about for months now. Clearly those EU guys are WAY ahead of us.
I've never played wow ... how do you get pvp gear / pvp rank in wow? In Rift, AoC, SWTOR, XXXXX, it's by doing arenas/BGs 1000s of times. So people stay in town all day and queue BGs and there's no reason to owPVP ever.

How is gold going to be any different in Tera with LFD? Gear drops are going to be worth far more than monster gold so folks are just going to farm the safe instanced dungeons.

That's what I mean when I say En Masse needs to focus on developing owPVP content - be it ow-dungeons, bosses, buried treasure, whatever, but give us ow objectives at end-game so there's something to fight over.

So at least three risks to successful owPVP:
1) PVP gear (bad for any game, imho), likely best gained via BGs (per KTera)
2) BGs (gotta grind that gear, and apparently determine politics in some zones)
3) LFD / instanced dungeons (why risk walking when you can magically teleport, and it's safe and cozy once you get there)

Hardcore pvp servers is what I live for, and I know my guild lives for considering we are ffa pvp full loot sandbox players.

So yes to the hardcore pvp servers please
