Necro. Let dead [filtered] stay dead will ya?

I never understood why "necro" threads are frowned upon. Its like saying "NO DO NOT USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION"

They are frowned upon when they are no longer an issue of discussion. It's not like the thread was about a techincal problem that was never solved or something. It was a conversation about something that has been solved and any one that goes to the forums would see that the solution will be available next week. There really is no need to dredge up and old post.

Someone should search if they have a problem to look for a solution, not to simply quote something that has been stickied on the top of the forum for like a week.

Kinda makes sense. However the top of the forums doesn't officially say a thing about the template change they announced they are "working" on. Also it doesn't magically change the fact that,YES, as the thread title says much of the level 60 armor is simply rehashed models you have seen before.

its in the details.

no really its because each race and sex have unique skeletons and animations, hence you can not even preview items you cant wear. Clipping would be all over the place.

there are currently about 20 or 21 different armor templates in the game for each race. This has nothing to do with what tier the item is. Which was a poor choice if you ask me, for this very reason. Player think that as each "tier" is unique and a they level they get this expectation to see new cool stuff.

By the time you get 60 you should have realized this is not that case, if not get ready for your starter endgame set to look like stuff you wore 20 some odd levels ago. I was pretty upset when i realized my sleeper gear was simply a rehashed model.

get a hex editor and use some google goodness, till the patch.

an amount equal to how much they had to pay NcSoft which is undisclosed

its PvPvE because its trying to emulate MOBA games, which are very popular in the developers country.

different GvG modes need to come, something besides the FFA it currently is. King of the hill, capture ( or destroy, or plant ) the (vanarch) flag, endurance ( one kill then your out) etc etc.

Rated and unrated deathmatches / battlegrounds / GvG.

To bad they are just getting over the compensation from the lawsuit, I wouldn't bet on much changing anytime soon.
PVE

Battlegrounds? check
GvG? check
PVP for vanarchy? check

the only thing your would miss out on by going PVE is the outlaw system. Which is meh. Although I think most PVE servers dont even like GvG. I wouldnt know i played on a PVP server, which really didnt even feel like a PVP server
Purposely keeping alts at a certain level range for rune drops. I was on that route for a bit. Even ran into a OwPvP on my 26 or so sorcerer against a lvl 26 sorcerer that was had +9 weapon and the rest +6.

Outside of rune farming I dont see the point unless your that bored. Rather fight a twink then a lvl 60 any day.
In my opinion all those story quests that have gear as a reward should be BAM quests. To late now but meh, I am just bored
iceburg your delusional. To say that gear is jsut a visual stat..... Then what crystals you use shouldn't matter at all, its jsut a stat? Having or not having 30% reduced pvp damage from your visual stat makes no difference? really?

Fighting games are very much about stats. How else do you think the strongest combo's are created? Most in game combo's are terrible and the players use all their knowledge of frames/damage/recovery/range/stun/on block/on counter etc. To maximize this damage. There were plenty of times where situations arise that extra damage can be delivered. But if you don't know when the chance is to maximize damage.

creating combos as you describe has very little to do with stats and more to do with knowledge and use of the games animations. You think its stats that create combos? no its the game mechanics of dodge / block, animations length, and resources. Stats (damage done / received) are just the outcome of that knowledge.

Yes you may have to aim the rocket thats all fine and dandy. That's like this game you've got to aim your attacks in order to make them count. It doesn't matter how much gear you have if you can't land an attack you can't kill someone. So in reality gear doesn't matter once again.

You fail to see the real picture here and pick one way in which a targeting in this game applies to an FPS. Lets just ignore that in a FPS everyone had the same access to all the weapons and has the same health, from the moment they start. Unless an RPG offered PVP where each item you wore ( your "visual stats" you like so much) to everyone at all times, there is a big difference. Otherwise its a players gear ( power) AND skill that that determines the outcome, instead of a FPS where all gear is equalized and offered to everyone at all times. In an RPG where gear adds to a players power it CAN and WILL influence PVP, skill will still play a role but gear ( power) difference will ALWAYS skew the outcome.

Having to aim your skills and being able to dodge are the only "skills" required in this game. The rest is who had better gear, because outside that gear's visual stats determine power.
