Everyone is going to declare war on Bunny Girls (BG) because pretty much half the server hate them. Just zerg [filtered] spamming invites to everyone and think that numbers is the way to go. The worst part is most of the people in BG have no idea what's going on and why they are getting killed left, right, and center, all bloody day long. Does the UI even support showing that you had, at once, at least 12 guilds at war with you?

RP-PvP makes more sense than RP-PvE from a role playing point of view. Originally speaking RP servers were open PvP (See: M.U.D.s).

You're going to ask why because you're slightly confused in thinking that RP = PvE carebears. Well, why? Let's just use a popular example to keep this simply and tidy: World of Warcraft (WoW).

From a pure RP point-of-view (PoV) I'll roll, let's say an Orc. As an Orc I have certain character aspects I play around with, develop my Orc warrior to be a certain way and maybe against the grain a little. But we Orc's, loath humans, namely because of their ill-treatment when we were finally cured of our bloodlust and went to them to sign up and HELP them fight the Burning Legion. But what did the Humans and subsequently the Alliance do? Kill us anyway. So see, right there? Humans and Orc's kill one another.

Am I truly following my roll from an Orc's PoV by not killing Humans and their Alliance counterparts when I can? What about the opposite? No, not really. PvE doesn't allow me to fulfill my role as an Orc. But PvP servers do! This applies too all the races in WoW in the Horde vs Alliance mentality it's all kill-on-sight.

Okay, so, I get it, Tera doesn't have any Horde or Alliance, just all affiliated races. Do a little research and you'll quickly find out that each race might harbour ill-will towards each other deep down. But this isn't enough in and of itself to justify my role to need to PvP. No. But the political Guild vs Guild system on the other hand... Well, yeah.

Sure the premise of the story and lore is against these mobs, but as guilds progress they can claim land and as a member of a guild I want MY guild to succeed where it can, right? Sure there is evil that needs to be slayed but my guild! My guild is my brotherhood, my life! They will fight and die for me and I for them so why wouldn't I fight another guild for land? Would we not end up with rivals? Much like the Horde and the Alliance in WoW would my guild that wishes to progress not find it's anti? What then on a PvE server? I'm going to wave at them? Forget that dude, I'm going to kill them on sight.

In the end, we are all fighters, warriors, killers. We kill mobs in PvE and speaking from a purely RP based PoV whats the difference between a mob and a rival guild or player? Not much outside of the combat, they are all targets I need to fight.

I fight for me.
I fight for my guild.

I need to not be restricted in my actions.

RP-PvE is less of a real RP system than PvP. Again, RP-PvE came later.

tl;dr

When in role, there is no difference between an NPC and a player. My enemy is my enemy and it needs to die.
