I'm not really certain they were deliberately being dirty and deceptive. This is my silly theory: I think the creative team that comes up with ideas for events really had intent to feature touched up screenshots. They did really word it to encourage that type of art, and the promotional image used definitely gave off that vibe. Hell, the contest may have even been the idea of the one who works on those promotional images. It's a bit under appreciated as a job in this industry. Thankless, and rarely given a second thought, but always necessary to look professional. What I think happened was that the judging of the art was some kind of meeting of -all- EME employees in a boardroom with a powerpoint presentation or something like that. Most likely those employees were uninformed about the full nature of the contest, and most of the praise and votes went to good looking drawings. Judging mainly on technique, rather than the other criteria the contest creators intended. Perhaps they're used to getting screenshots during art contests (I always see people attempting to submit those in other games' contests, even though they've only asked for drawings) so many of the entries got dismissed in favor of art.
My entry. I guess it wasn't particularly lore ambiguous or friendly, but it's something I RP and fitting so I thought I'd enter. The wording did certainly make it seem like manipulations were considered first, so that's what I went for.
The Masterless Marionette

"A once beautiful and gentle Elin was cursed with a porcelain body, doomed to live out her days as an undying puppet. The threads of fate bind her soul to Arborea. Embittered, she's become filled with wrath. A danger to all that approach, except her caretaker. Unable to take her life, the loving caretaker locked her away in a library where she could cause no harm."

#16, certainly.
((You may remember us from our Tournament of the Rose on the Sunday of Open Beta. We have a very keen interest in hosting more server-wide events, and getting involved with the entire Celestial Hills community. If you would like to be a part of this, please apply!))
I've enjoyed D&D and Deadlands over the years. I've also played some other games, but they never really stuck with me so much those two.

Are you illiterate? This is my point. There isn't any concept of "like-minded" when you aren't discussing such things. What I'm saying is it is unnecessary to create a guild around such an idea.
EDIT: @utsukushii87: You've interpreted my post just fine
Yams on 04/15/2012, 04:56 PMBeing a homosexual myself, I find these types of guilds puzzling. They always seem to want socialise with "like-minded" inviduals, and yet discourage any kind of sexually related, or lifestyle discussions.
"Sexually related or lifestyle discussion"??? No LGBT person would join a guild in an MMO for that.

High Elf Mystic.
Being a homosexual myself, I find these types of guilds puzzling. They always seem to want socialise with "like-minded" inviduals, and yet discourage any kind of sexually related, or lifestyle discussions. It makes me wonder what the appeal of being in a guild with such a community is, when they can't even discuss what they were founded on. You might as well have joined any other guild you please, and get the same amount of support/unity for the same amount of non-discussion you're having.
Of course a roleplaying server would be considerably more mature, and I'd like to the think the majority of people in recent years are at the very least tolerant of LGBT people, and I don't feel the need to keep my lifestyle or orientation quiet within a small community like I might have a decade ago. I feel that encouraging guilds like this perpetuates an unhealthy negative self-image for some members of the LGBT community. Makes them feel like the world outside of said guild is so incredibly unaccepting of them, that they require said community to enjoy their time in the game.
That's just my two cents, though. Good luck with your guild.

Too Fabulous? Obviously. I wouldn't have it any other way, darling. If my level of fabulous was just right, then everyone would love me, and that just wouldn't be any fun.

Although I have a myriad of self-constructed names at my fingertips, and don't normally go for names like this, this particular one was so fitting, I just had to seize the opportunity.
I recognize that face. That is FABULOUS in the most disgusting way. Too FABULOUS.

I love yours.
This is Papillon. If it's fabulous, or purple, he probably knows something about it.
