Zodiacrat's Post History

Ah, that clears up a lot of mystery I had about enchanting. I think I would definitely be one of those +9 only players since running the high-end, "job-like", large time investment dungeons would not interest me.
You've all piqued my interest. I may have to buy a copy just to have a look. :)

On another issue... do you find that most people play males or females? I ask because it amazes me how beautiful the character models are, both men and women, but definitely women. I've never seen a game make the internal wire-frame so accurate and facial features look so amazing before!
With that said, do you see more people playing females because they are so appealing, or a good amount of men as well?

It is my understanding from reading the threads taht Beta accounts are automatically changed to Discovery Edition when that was introduced.

I just patched my client and tested this. Apparently my account still requires a subscription. I couldn't log in but was prompted to subscribe.
I'm guessing the Discovery Edition is a separate install file.

As far as the RNG thing, yes I heard it was really messed up and caused a lot of problems for people. Maybe opting to not attempt crafting or enchanting is a good option? I wouldn't be required to do these things for general leveling and dungeons? That's just an end-game, top tier thing, right?
I read something about a Discovery Edition of Tera being free to play up to level 28. is this some special version of the software or is my current (from beta) install the same thing?
Can I just patch the game and log in with my old account and play to level 28?
That would really help me see what everyone is talking about and inspire my choice to subscribe or not.
Thanks everyone for the responses, it's really helping me get a feel for Tera.
I'll explain a bit since most seem to think I'm an avid role player and not much of a combat gamer or something. :)
I actually gave up role playing in online games years ago, because it either never happened, happened poorly (emo sex addicts), or wasn't worth the effort because people suck. :)
Actually when I beta tested Tera, I really enjoyed the combat. When I say I'm not a twitch gamer, I mean I'm not super fast at games like FPS types (Call of Duty, Halo, that type of thing).
I think it's mostly due to my manual dexterity. I've never been good at ASWD + mouse style movement. for some reason I don't have a good amount of dexterity in my left hand for moving. I've always been a keyboard based player (shock!). I'm good and fast at moving on my right hand with the number pad keys and activating skills on my left hand with numbers 1-10 or pressing other keys.
I used to be very good at World of Warcraft in PvP because that game allowed me to play that style without taking anything away from the experience.
I know Tera forces an ASWD style because the mouse is your looking and movement. I actually like that. I just need a lot of practice to get used to moving on my left hand. I was hoping this game would be a good trainer for me, but until I get good at it, I cannot "twitch" very well. :)
Anyway, just wanted to clear that one up.

My biggest concern wasn't the combat style, so much as PvP being the only real thing to do. It seems most MMO's these days are just PvP games with PvE thrown in to keep you busy until you can compete in PvP. since I don't really care for that, I just wanted to ask if you veteran players were finding other, fun things to do besides PvP end-game.

Thanks again for everyone's time. Hope to hear some more comments.
Hi everyone. I was in the beta events and planned to buy this game on release, but at the last minute decided it wasn't for me.
I noticed a lot of server consolidation and see the population has really dwindled, but success of the game is not my question here.
I really loved the art style and superior character models of this game; also the amazing scenery I saw in the beta events. I just wasn't sure a Korean type game was something I had time to try out (being how grindy and repetitive they can get).

If you could please answer these questions for me, I would really appreciate it.

1. Is this game still really fun for you?
2. Is this game mostly a pvp game? I ask this because I'm not a good "twitch" gamer and really don't have great pvp skills. I much prefer a PvE environment where I can spend time and appreciate the things around me.
3. Do people do any story telling or role playing vs. just spending all their time grinding out levels to get to the top as fast as they can?
4. Being a "trinity" based game, do most classes get an equal chance at grouping or are there exclusions? For instance, do some classes get passed up most of the time because of over-population of them (like WoW Hunters) or just plain not wanted at all?
5. Is there anything to do in the game besides leveling and pvp?
6. I heard the enchanting system is a real test of people's patience and takes incredible time and resources to do. Is it required? Would it be possible to just play the game and completely ignore this aspect if top gear at end-game is not really a focus for a casual player?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I really do miss this game a bit and was hoping it may have evolved into something for me, but I just don't know and would like some professional help from you veteran players.
This is not a bash Tera thread. I like the game; I've just come to realization that I don't "love" the game and decided I'm going to free up my collectors edition and let someone else have it.
I tried to log into my account and view my pre-order order status, but I don't see any information about it anywhere.
I'm not really sure what I need to do to remove it from my account.
Can someone who has cancelled before, or someone who knows the process tell me what I need to do to cancel mine?
Thank you.

We prefer:
- People to be friendly, laid back and positive
- People who don’t take the game seriously
- People who are less competitive in-game
- Focus and enjoy the ride itself, rather than the destination
- Do things together as a group; party play over solo play
- Helping out each other over individual accomplishment
- Play it slow rather than grinding non-stop
- Stick with in-game chat (online chat usually kills the immersion for us)

If you are still interested after reading through all these, please reply and/or PM me with the following information:
1. Your time zone
2. Your typical play time (estimates will do)
3. What is it about our approach that resonate how you want to play Tera.. maybe a story about your previous MMO experience, etc.

Thanks for your time! :)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, count me in. You all sound like the type of people I would adventure with.
My time zone is Pacific Standard Time.
My play time is usually weekends at no specific time and occasionally weekdays for short amounts of time if I get lucky.
Your basic idea of friendliness, exploration, social bonding, and slow pace sounds just like me.
To give you a background of myself....
I've played MMO's for over 15 years. My first one was Ultima Online and there have been far too many to list since then. Now that being said, I've rarely had a max level character in any of the MMO's I've played; maybe 4 or 5 max level characters total.

I am a "enjoy the journey more than the destination" type of player and typically level slow. Having a career, wife, and kid also make my leveling slow. :)
I'm an ex-U.S. Air Force Desert Shield veteran. I've been out for almost 20 years now, and just turned 40, so I'm not too keen on childish behavior or guild chat being full of "epeen" comparisons.
I like mature, friendly people who like to play the game to have fun, not turn it into a second job with min/max stats and flow-charts for maximum DPS, etc.
I typically could care less about PvP and am not an arena junkie. I see no point in it unless it's open world in defense of towns or attacks of rivals; otherwise, pointless.
I'm good humored, good company, and like to help my fellow players. If I sound like a good match, I'm all in. :)
You will have absolutely no problem running the game on full settings. If this is a laptop, get a cooling fan for it to save processor burn and increase the life span of the chipset.
Yeah, I think it's time for you to pass the doochie on the left hand side. :)
I answered this for someone awhile back, so I'll just repeat here.
It's not yet known if this is the final client or not. It could be since the game is very polished and complete at this point (been out a year in Korea already). The changes they are making for the North America version may not have any major differences in the game client, so most likely you're ok with this installation.

On the other hand, it could be a completely different client in the final release, much like SWOTOR was and you'd have to dump this one and download another 30 gig file...
But I highly doubt it.
More than likely, this is it.
