I've got the same problem.
Played all phases of beta, early start, and all last summer. Quit for a while at the end of August, came back in February, been having a good time since.
Pappy da MAN.
Well, little doglike pirate creature. But still.

It's not you. We're all going through it.
I wanna play, too.
I wanna play, too.

I take that back: make that three abusive, tough guy trolls.
The strategy is really marvelous. I'm wondering how many more posts the thread will manage before it's shut down by the attitude of the people who least want it to succeed.
Perhaps if people tried to extend a little respect to their fellow gamers, and could try to muster one iota of sympathy for their very real and heartfelt frustration, these threads could manage something constructive.
Pipe dream, I know.

you mean that the people who make "boohoo enchanting-should-be-a-free-handout-upgrade-because-im-jealous-i-failed-a-few-attempts argument", about how mmos should be work, and everything should just be readily spoonfed to you in easy, no effort, no excitement, boring time sinks aren't the dumb ones? you have 0 skill, and an entitled sentiment, so why shouldnt you get it for free, huh?
This is utter nonsense.
no, the only nonsense here is this thread, and this idiot's post. there is nothing wrong with enchanting, just entitled children who want the game handed to them after hours of repetitive motion sickness sets in.

Pharys, the only people I see insulting others in these threads are you and Hakumen: you both consistently get on enchanting threads and endlessly attack anyone complaining about the enchant system as QQers and whiners, mathematically challenged, ill educated halfwits, etc. That pisses people off, they counterattack, and then the threads get locked as unconstructive.
I compliment you on your strategy; it certainly works for shutting down any kind of attempt to find out how many people in Tera dislike the current system, or to discuss possible ways to improve it. It's also trolling, of course. I'm kind of surprised that the EME moderators haven't called you two out on it.
There has been quite a few threads where people try to intelligently discuss success rates and player data regarding enchanting but they all turn into a bunch of ignorant members QQing and others flat out lying that they destroyed 1273120978 fodders to get to +6.
Eventually the thread turns into "please give me my +12 item because other people got lucky", then name calling then locked.

You know, the fact that there are repeated threads on it just MAY indicate that a lot of people don't like it. And if enough people register their dislike, the designers MAY eventually do something about it. That's how complaining to a manufacturer about their product works, you see.
Since the other option is people who hate the current system simply quitting and the game population going down and down, I'd personally rather see the threads keep coming up. What bothers me more is the people attacking the complainers. They seem to feel that if they do this, calling the complaints whining or QQing or whatever, a light is going to come on over the heads of the complainers and they'll say, "yes, you know, you're right, enchanting is fine!" That clearly isn't going to happen, as the recurrence of these complaints show. Each new generation of Tera endgamers is going to keep complaining about the crazy failure rates for enchanting until the devs either do something or the game population dwindles.

I'd support it. Lock out the cheapskate trolls who derive some kind of perverse enjoyment from trashing a game they either no longer play, or have never played. I find those kinds of people detestable.
If they have no value, then why are you wasting forum space pointing that out, Pharys? If what you say is true, there's no danger of them ever acting on the petition, therefore there's no reason to attack it.
Excuse me for saying this, but I think you're trying too hard; you seem worried that these petitons may actually lead to some change that you don't want.
I can't prove or disprove your assertion that people are packing these polls with alts, of course; there's no way I could ever disprove it, or that you could prove it. I did respond to the recent petition on enchanting, and I'm not anyone's puppet or alt. I wrestled a while with whether to support it, then reluctantly decided to. This wasn't easy for me, since I like Tera a lot, and it's given me a lot of pleasure over the last two months. I've also spoken very much in its defense on almost every occasion since there have been forums to talk about it, and like you I detest the Tera trolls who only come on the boards to gratify their inexplicable hatred of the game.
But the enchanting system is upsetting a lot of people like me, who otherwise like the game. It's the very worst feature of Tera's endgame, and it is causing people to quit. Trying to stifle attempts to make customer concerns known to the devs makes you sound suspect yourself. Trolling is awful, but rational discussion is what these boards are for, and it should be encouraged. I haven't seen much trolling in the poll on enchanting, just a lot of disappointed consumers making their concerns known. There's nothing at all wrong with that, so don't try to shut it down.

I'll sign. I hadn't said anything in this controversy so far because I was still divided in my mind about the whole issue. But after failing for the sixth or seventh time to get my gloves to +9 tonight, I found the whole thing was making me tired. Get gold, get fodder (either as a drop or by buying it), get alkahest, hit the button, fail again. Where is the pleasure in that?
The big problem with the ridiculous failure rates for enchanting isn't the rates themselves. It's that it makes you feel a chump for waisting your valuable time to make the attempt, only to see no results about 75% of the time. If there was some result, even a +1% per failure to your next attempt, you'd be getting something. As it is, I might as well have spent the time I spent gathering materials stacking bbs in a corner, for all the good I got out of it.
Leisure time is supposed to be spent doing things that are fun. This isn't fun. It's annoying and frustrating. And if they keep it this way, more and more of their playerbase is going to eventually ask themselves why they're wasting time and money doing it. Once they can't answer the question anymore, they will quit. I've already seen a large number of my guild logging in less and less, citing the hamster wheel of frustration that is Tera endgame, the most eggregious example of which is the enchanting system. EME had better pull it together soon, or the game will dwindle down to almost nothing, as it's already done in Korea and Japan.
And save us the "Westerners feel they're entitled" crap. Westerners believe that if they're paying for an experience, it's fine for it to be challenging, but it's not ok for it to be arbritrary, irritating, and pointless. That's all the enchanting system is. The expectation that it should be something more is completely rational and justified, however virtuously patient we think those masochistic Asians are. Actually, if more of us could read Korean or Japanese, I'm willing to bet we'd find many of the same complaints we're seeing here echoed there.
