Yeah, honestly that's a pretty big screwup on their part. I know there are underlying causes for it, but it really messes up the dungeon queue times. 2 healers, 2 tanks and 4 dps was a good system, but now we're up to 2 healers, 1 tank and 5 dps : /

It's going to happen no matter what, and people who know nothing about the game will continue to spout nonsense in their expert opinions. Their two years playing WoW exclusively has given them insight into the MMO genre and allowed them to make judgements about games based off of small amounts of information.
That and people are stupid.
@Endurance: You're an idiot. EME is the publisher for TERA, just as NCsoft is the publisher for GW2. Bluehole developed TERA, just as ArenaNet have developed GW1 and are developing GW2.
Please don't talk if you're going to be stupid.

You totally missed my point.
Point-----
Your head------
ART STYLE DOES have an effect on how fun the game is. It's NOT all the gameplay mechanics and combat.
Art style and graphical fidelity are two different things.
that what i say graphic dont make fun it all the gameplay mechanics and combat system. i know tons of horrbile graphic games that really good to play

No. Art style/direction are HUGE factors in player enjoyment. There are certain games that I LOVE because of the art, despite the fact as a game it's not that great (Alice: Madness Returns for example). There are other games that are spectacular, but because of the art style used, I can't get into it at all.
You don't need to have high quality graphical fidelity to have a good looking game. Look at Trine. It doesn't have super high fidelity graphics, but the art in the game is amazing and they've found a way to make DECENT graphics look great.
Graphic dont make the game fun it the combat that does that but it rare to have both graphic and good combat in same game because cost alot money art design and the programmer to make the combat work well

I'm all for supporting a company (and I support EME and TERA), but if someone has a legitimate complaint, they should absolutely voice it.

Sadly, not really. It's too much of a niche game with the art style and a lot of the more traditional elements.
It's a great game and the combat is insanely fun, but it's not going to change how MMO's are made. At most, it will influence the combat systems in future MMO's to be more action oriented, which is a great thing IMO.
Tera has a chance to usurp current mmos with it's combat.
Other larger companies are doing what they can to keep media about Tera on the d-low.

You're totally right that a lot of the older games, specifically a lot of the low budget Korean MMO's, do have p2w cash shops. But if you look at the trend that f2p MMO's have been going in over the past 2-3 years they've moving away from that and moving towards selling convenience, cosmetic changes, and services instead of power. It's great because that system is proving to be very profitable for companies and beneficial for the players too.
Yea I guess those are all some pretty solid points, they're newer f2p's that I wasn't thinking of. However I do see aion and l2 going very p2w in the future. I guess I was thinking more along traditional mmo's as you've named a couple shooters, a dungeon crawler, and 2 older games. You're right though mmos that go from p2p to f2p do tend to not be p2w.

You must not be a pvper.
Just one more excuse PvPers use for losing, they carry no weight with me.

When somebody can throw down some cash to get a max level character with better gear than what can be acquired in game (example: Awesome set +12 is best in game, Awesome set +29 is available in the cash shop and much more powerful) that can join PvP and fight against me, that's BS pay-to-win. When they sell life/damage boosts that can't be acquired in game, that's pay-to-win. That negatively affects the game since it allows some people to flat out BUY more power than other players can, overcoming skill barriers that are one of the core aspects of gameplay.
And tell me, what exactly is wrong with "pay to win", how does it actually effect YOU?
