Overall, I rather like the world questing setup in Tera once you get off the Island of Dawn.

The story quests are an intriguing way to get to the dungeons... and since the Tera story isn't based on some known piece of fiction (i.e. like Age of Conan), it's the only way to learn the lore of the land.

The zone quests are standard, but there are so many of them, you can pick and choose which ones to do, if any, and most likely you won't do more than half of the ones in the zone. Plus, they are a break from running through dungeons as fast as you can to maybe get some gold armor that you won't need anymore in a few levels.

The guild quests dovetail nicely with the zone quests, so you can get some rep for your guild at the same time that you knock off a few zone quests.

I wouldn't mind seeing class and/or race-specific quests added to the mix, to make leveling alts a bit more varied and interesting. (Age of Conan did it nicely in Tortage, the start-up zone, where each archetype had a slightly different experience, but then they dropped the idea after that.) It's not hard to imagine that each race would have slightly different objectives as they progress through Tera, or that mystics might have a different goal to achieve than slayers would.
I'm thinking Vekas won't be such a pushover anymore, and it will be harder to solo the last fight on the Island of Dawn at lvl 10-11.

As for the live-action prologue, if it's at all like the one in Vindictus, it'll be fun to do a few times, but then you'll be escaping though it to get right into the game. It's a good move for first-timers, and even though I did all the CBTs, I'm looking forward to it.

Senators > Rangers, cause we have the balls, lol.
Kritter for my Popori mystic, cause I liked the double meaning
Mystic Beaver, with the gold tooth

Well, I'm more of a geezer than you (by 10 years), so just wanted to let you know there's at least one other geezer in the game. I'm up in Canada and have been playing Age of Conan for the past four years, but I don't have anything against Virginians who play FFXIV, hehe. Anyway, I sent you a PM you might want to check out.... have fun in the game.

you can change the speed of the camera/mouse movements, but not disable it.

Some mice... i.e. Razer Naga... let you program different dpi settings for horizontal and vertical axis. I have a lower setting on the vertical axis so my screen isn't bouncing up and down all the time, and a faster setting on the horizontal setting so I can so I can turn quickly in response to mob attacks and when I'm kiting. If you can program your mouse this way, it might help.
Might want to mention that Teleport Jaunt and Backstep share a 5 sec cooldown... so if you use TJ, it will proc a 12s cooldown for it, and a 5s cooldown for Backstep. If you use Backstep, it will proc a 5s cooldown for both it and TJ. Glacial Retreat cooldown is not affected by either of the other two ports.

Great guide, btw!

Perhaps there should be three server types then:

- PvE as it now exists
- PvE/PvP hybrid, where consensual PvP is allowed
- PvP as it now exists

I'd be rolling on the PvE server, cause I'm not much interested in GvG or any other kind of PvP
Vindictus for super fast and fun dungeon runs and similar combat system to Tera... dodge, block, evade, smash, etc. etc.
