hqDM's Post History

Was just messing around with fraps, ended up shooting a Lanok kill.
Nothing particularily special, but I love how the game looks without the UI on.
Wish there was some way to tell if cdreset glyphs proc'd or not, though.

Quality got shot, even though the original video was pretty good ;_;

yeah, exactly. Grinding's about efficiency, like I mentioned in that wall.

Not worth the time to loot most of what drops, which is also why -cd, movspd, and +pow glyphs are important. Less time doing all the mundane stuff is more time spent proc'ing good drops.

The only thing I try to loot are items + gold. Mats are worth [filtered] all, as are runes. White rings/necks are questionable - 1 slot for less than 1g. Scroll recipes are okay, ~1g and stack 10 to a slot. Loot designs too. Get used to looting as you run, can pick multiple items up in one F.

Don't spend too much time grabbing mobs unless they're really close together. Just whack em'n move on. It's not efficient to group them if you're spending more time grouping them than you would killing them in 2s or 1 by 1.

Again, efficiency.. so if you find something that works better, go with it.

This effect is working as intended. Die and have your stamina drop to zero, your HP bar will be shorter than your MP bar. Regain Stamina and by 48% they will be equal. By 120% the effect is as you see there.

This is a visual eye candy that help a player judge how much of a bonus they have from stamina.

That's not what he's talking about. It's the distance between the HP bars and the top of the screen.

I moved mine to the bottom, where it sits flush with my xp bar, instead.
Loligasm, 158 lancer

Not really looking for a static, as my playtimes really shuffle around a lot.
Looking to just sub in, for competent players that are missing their tank. Feel free to toss me a msg if I'm online. Have a headset + vent, but can't chat after 9pm EST, and only really wanna use it for MCHM.

No interest in running FoK/BT. ET duo with a DD class is okay, though.

Can you help me out with this? I'm going to PM you directly.

Sure thing. Anything to get online again.
Patched, immediately ffff:ffff'd.
Closed out launcher, signed in again, immediately ffff:fff'd.
Closed out launcher, signed in again, repaired installation.
Closed out launcher, signed in again, loaded game - ffff:ffff'd after the 3 cinematics, where the server window / char select would normally be coming up.

The complete opposite rather, grind spots are even more important (although, 3T is especially overcrowded), directly BECAUSE the economy's in the [filtered]ter. You don't sell any of this stuff on the broker, except maybe good cruxes; but I always just stash mine. 300g per hour is scrub tier. Idk how else to put that. If you're only making 300g/hr at 60, you're a mystic or just really, really bad.

Pre-dps patch, a lancer in spire gear with 4x hunters (which are like 25g ea), glyphed for dps (10g) could grind out 650g/hr to 950g/hr - dependent on gold weapon drops. That is, straight profit, sold to the NPC, not AH'd. Hardly any of T13 even, is worth AHing. Gold weap fodder, chest fodder. The rest has too low a margin combined with brokerage fees to worth bothering. Now, that's lancer. We do have a high sustained dps (not burst), but as other DD classes have an overall higher dps on average, why are you falling behind?

The only thing you seriously need for farming, is patience + an eye for efficiency. Max out your invent, empty out all the crap you don't immediately need into your bank, glyph your frequently used/low cd/high dps skills for +%power/-cd, glyph for -cd on your dash skills, throw on some music, and go pretend you're a chinese gold bot.

Bams are okay, but they are highly depend on the fodder market - that is, they were great right after the enchant patch, when white/green fodder - the most common drop, were selling at 300-400g each. It was stupid efficient to farm bams (upwards of 3k/hr) for the first few days after that patch. But now? White armor fodder is down to 30-40g, green fodder around 100, depending on type. Weap fodder g/w's are npc-tier. You'll be lucky to get more than 600g/avg per hour, often not even breaking 400g. It's very much, much more dependent on RNG style of farming than straight grinding is. If that's your thing, fine - but it's not reliable. To say that they're much more efficient than straight grinding, is blatant ignorance.

MES, again, depend on current market. Atm on TR, they're around 200g ea. If you can get more than 4 MES per hour per character in party, farm MES. When I try to decide what to grind, I usually go by "will it earn me more than 900g/hr?" as that's roughly the average grind$/hr in non-3T spots.

The KN example you gave is rather exaggerated, as most thrown-together parties can't even clear that damn instance in 20 minutes. Even if I personally find it easy, it's not a good example. If you're going to run with a static, or assume a decently geared/competent static, you might as well be running ACHM and above, which is vastly more efficient *given competency*.

ET duo's okay for MES though. NPC the golds, split the MES. 12-15/min run ideally, 20min runs if undergeared. Still has the same scroll output, and relatively no risk of wipe due to incompetence.

I just 3-hit a priest 2 lvls above me, on my L41 quest-geared slayer. Stun, whack, whack. S'all there is to it.
@tyrant
You never needed to fill a raid up to 10 with lvl 60 alts before, lvl 1s worked just as well.
But recently, it's changed, now possible to enter traverse w/o 10 ppl in raid. Alts no longer required.
As an active tank, I rarely use any of my cds. Occasionally I'll run something with friends, but getting 4 of them together between school, work, and whatnot on a regular basis just doesn't happen. We also have more tanks than aoe dps ;_; For me, it's something I'd like to do (a static, or a regular pool to pick from), but really, most of the competent dps/healers I know already have their own static. In the end, I just end up grinding gold, since I don't need to worry about dps incompetence, and it doesn't take hours to organize.

I think (from a tank pov, remember), the major issue is players that *think* they're ready for HMs just aren't: players with 0 patience, abrasive attitude, or just a general inability or refusal to even consider the fact that they're the weakest link, and players with 0 desire to improve.

For example, my guild is capped out on players. But really? I can only think of 9-10 players actually worth their slot. Maybe that's a bit harsh, as I am on PVE, and there's just so many casual players here who wanna login & kill time, horse around, blow steam. But to me, the general attitude is that they want to get carried through the various instances, and not reach a level where they can carry themselves. Week after week, it's the same dolts standing in aoe; not paying attention to pylons; running into visible aoe to rez players that died to said aoe; attacking the bosses before they've been repositioned; not reacting during add waves (literally ignoring the adds next to them).. and then they ask to run HMs and it's like.. what do you do?

Do you people just not understand that there is an active requirement for all players to pay attention and your negligence and inattention has a monetary (and time) cost attached to it? It's not even a matter of ilvl at this point - a dps in +9 T12 can run FoKHM + BTHM, how do you think we farmed T13 enigs before even having T13 enigs? But that players don't want to pay attention, or ask themselves, how can I react or improve? Most of the boss fights in tera are incredibly simple - at x%hp, do :this:.

I realize op's talking more about dungeon cd playing a major factor, but at the same time, I don't think even having a 1hr, 2hr cd on ACHM or MCHM (for example) would increase the amount of tanks willing to pug that, it'd only allow the current statics to grow consistently richer.

tl;dr, I (and other tanks) don't actively group with people outside of our core base because you've proven yourselves to be liabilities more than anything. I'd happily group (and die) with players that exhibit at least a willing attitude and aptitude to improve. But screw carrying you guys.
