The goal of most mmo's or at least subscription based games, is to appeal to the masses. More subs, more money, more expansions and content. Problem is, they lower skill level to do it.
TERA and more specifically Bluehole Studios, GET IT. You couldn't possibly take an action-mmo and make it easy. That'd defeat the point. I understand that in order to make a game like WoW easier, you don't take out the bosses attack, you lower the number that it hit you for, or buff the numbers you can take. TERA doesn't have to do any of that. It's skill based, and that's how it should be, except in hard modes which should have harder mechanics and harder hitting monsters.
I looked into this game for years now while it's been in Korea. They had what I wanted but it didn't appeal to western gaming. People don't like grind fests in the west. At least not the majority. What everyone does love is action. Rewarding, fun, and super extraordinary game play. I can't go back to point click MMO's. I just can't, and I'll gladly pay 15$ a month for it.
My real reason for making this is to encourage BHS and En Masse to keep going in the direction they've laid out. Responding to the community (not the casuals), being innovative and adding new hard, and enjoyable content. I can look forward to midnight tomorrow more than I already am.
P.S. I've played a [filtered] ton of MMO's and GW2 was my next one, but I think I've already found THE mmo, for ME. I encourage everyone to tell everyone in person/forums about this game, and to simply tell them to try it. Nothing else will convince them actually laying hands on this beast.
