lbgsloan's Post History

As Koroem said, this is already a done deal. It's going Nexon style F2P P2W which will revive the game population for about a month, then everyone will hit the now even harsher RNG wall (anything in the new cash shop will be made super rare or impossible to get legitimately and you all know it). Think farming for high level enchanting and MWS sucks now? Just wait until gold income is massacred and MWS no longer drop with 100% certainty. They know that all the 60s no longer have to spend 1500-1800 gold a month in scrolls, which means the people buying them are no longer paying for everyone's sub fees. EM needs that money some other way now, and they're going to do it by making progress for 60s as painful as possible without feeding cash into the game.

I was already done before, but ironically now that I don't have to farm chronoscrolls I have even less incentive to come back. As many others have said, F2P wlll finish Tera off. Not save it.
OPs experience is basically the same as what a friend and I went through playing the game. Gotta grind grind grind to buy and enchant your equipment so pugs won't kick you, yet once you're done with that there isn't actually a reason to do the instances any more. We don't play enough to have a guild with a reliable static, so hardmodes are basically out and nobody wants to do normals anymore even if you have the gear to avoid getting kicked. Nexus? Nexus is the most poorly implemented concept I have seen in a game. How can any employee at BHS or EME look at the lag that impacts the ENTIRE GODDAMN SERVER when Nexus is on, nevermind the single digit FPS when directly in one, and think that best solution is to add moar Nexus?! I am completely with the people who ask for it to be deleted entirely.

What exactly are we still playing for then? The terrible PvP? The slim hope of getting new content that won't be cash shop additions? Maybe an overhaul for the Mystic class some day (ha!)? The answer we came up with is that there isn't one, and we will probably let our subs expire instead of farming another scroll this month.

Fix for it? There's isn't one. PvE focused MMOs all die off eventually. WoW only lives because people who have sunk 5+ years of their life into it are literally terrified to pull the plug on their account. MMOs, RPG or otherwise, need a niche, a PvP focus, and a strong sense of community to survive these days. Tera does none of this.

Haven't noticed much of an improvement either, it's as random as ever. Still can't get a +9, and the other day it took 8 greens and a blue just to get a chest to +6. I'm about at the point as DOOA's guild members, there's no point in farming for hours to make zero progress. It just horrible game design; it doesn't addict me to play more, it just makes me shrug and want to uninstall. Lets not even go into the success rate on MESs which are normally 250g a pop.

This one is frankly just pitiful. Not the request that characters be allowed to climb down, but the fact they actually never coded a 'CLIMB DOWN' button in the first place. Maybe it's just me, just this seems like a function that should have immediately occured to the programmers the instant they made a 'CLIMB UP' function.

More funny are the white knights defending this one. So if a modern driving sim game didn't have a reverse gear button, you'd think that was okay and not sheer developer incompetence/apathy? Just plan your route more carefully so you never have to go in reverse, amirite?
This is why the forums were flooded with nothing about complaints about Tera's nonexistant endgame just 1 1/2 months after Tera released in the west. You run instances to get fodder to gamble and hope you get a minor stat increase, repeat until bored. And people got bored pretty quickly. QoA2 helped some, but it's only a matter of time before boredom sinks in again. I returned mainly because a friend picked up the game and played through it with him, and because it cost me nothing since I am chronoscrolled to 2013. Now that he's 60, I'm remembering why I stopped playing for two months. Basically we're trying to 2-man LoT with mediocre gear now, and once we can pull that off I'm not sure there's a reason to go further since nobody PUGs anymore.
Yeah, the egg thing quickly become a waste of time as it was 99% charms and potions. I didn't even bother with it the second time around. This time the rate of getting something other than charms is quite a bit bettter.
RNG is MMOs is nothing more than a timesink to try and keep people playing when there is nothing else to do. What actually happens when people get that +12? They stop playing the game because there is nothing left to do. If you can beat the Queen on HM, what more is there left to do? Tera's horribly implemented PvP? The pointless Vanarch system? Haha, you're funny. They will never touch the scrolls, then NEED the OCD players to grind out 100 scrolls for MW gear you don't actually need.

Battlestar is both correct and not; allowing people to easily get maxed out gear will actually speed up the demise of this game. However that is because Tera's endgame is still awful, not because making enchanting easier in itself was bad for the game. BHS have great art design, but godawful game design. Tera was built on a house of cards hoping the enchanting grind would be enough to keep sub dollars coming in. It failed both in Korea, and in the west. This band-aid fix to the enchanting system (instead of the overhaul from the ground up it needed) is basically BHS and EME throwing up their hands and saying, "We give up, we don't know how to keep this going, so we'll just throw the community a bone to reduce the number of complaints." It will work...for a about two weeks, and then everyone will have +9s and lose interest in the game even faster than they did before the QoA2 content.

As battlestar said, they will regret this in the long term.

I have not understood from day 1 why there is no option to turn this off. I do not care that some random person enchanted their gear. I do not want enchant messages being spamming on on UI when I am tanking an instance, or ever really. The game was unplayable last night because of this nonsense. It is clearly not special anymore from the sheer amount of UI spam going on. Before QoA2, +12 was something big sure. Now there enough +12s out there that this is no longer worth notifying the entire server. +9s were never worth notifying the entire server.

Is there a mod at least I can use that mutes the sound bite?

Ranting aside, there's a LOT of stuff that didn't go through. Is anyone here surprised EME didn't put in the gold/drop rate increases? I knew that one wasn't going through. Also missing are the Nexus cost decreases, and ToT improvements (minor, but anything that makes that awful instance better are welcome).

Would EME like to explain why these changes were 'overlooked'? I would love to hear why you think making the lower level instances worth running beyond the story quest XP is apparently bad for the game.
They can nerf the crit aura straight to hell if that's what is holding back buffs to everything else. Delete it from the game, I don't care. I want a class that's fun to play again. Doing anything solo with Mystic is just pure suffering.
