Nothing wrong with consolidating 70% of servers which the game originated. It's a good sign. Carry on.

Well if the business model is capable of sustaining itself with consolidated servers catering to a small but dedicated population of subscribing Tera enthusiasts, that's a good thing in my opinion.

Not having to share my gaming experience with a bunch of whiny, over-entitled, narcissistic, selfish, short tempered, impatient, overgrown rug rats? That's a WIN!

And if it turns out that it goes FTP, well I'll move on to something that isn't. Not the end of the world, there are worse things to get tied up in knots about, don't you agree?

There's nothing so seriously wrong with Tera that it's rendered people incapable of making rational consumer decisions about continuing to invest their time and money in it.

Seriously, 4chan could learn from you guys I've never seen hate of this magnitude even online.

Then there must be something wrong with the game or decisions of the game company. Otherwise people wouldn't be upset every other day over something else that is broken. So if this really has more hate than 4chan or anywhere online, something is seriously wrong with the game.

Look, I thought Skyrim was tedious garbage, so was Oblivion and Fallout3 in my view, but hey, I decided to take a risk and got burned. My fault, shouldn't have allowed myself to get suckered by the hype. I'm already out of pocket financially, I'm definitely NOT going to waste any more of my time on anything related to Skyrim. I'll limit that to the odd "I think it's a sucky, bug riddled mess" anecdotes when I'm in easy company.

This game has the same rotating group of brooding cry-babies on the forums. They just jump from game to game unhappy in all of them. Sad for them really. I can't tell you how many people on VoT I have seen/met in other games that are here now. Soon they will move on to GW2 or some other unlucky IP to ruin their forums as well. Just ignore them while they have their brief stay here. They are inconsequential everywhere they go and should be treated accordingly.

Yup, QFT. I could name and shame a few if I wanted to, since they're too arrogant (or dumb) to change their handle, but I wont. But they were doing a number on Aion Source, the Rift forums, SWTOR.

All it takes is a little persistence.A very small vocal minority can rapidly poison the well for everyone else, because they're setting the standard and tone. And because they're so loud, mouthy and trashtalky, they're grabbing all of the attention. Even the well meaning get scooped up in their wake, sucked into pointless arguments that have no chance of being concluded rationally.

It's never about whether a game like Tera does or doesn't have issues (it definitely does), it's always about doggedly going about causing disruption at the slightest provocation. Their job here is pretty much done it seems.

And when GW2 comes out, they'll be all over it like a rash. That's an absolute guarantee!

Gallus; this post. [filtered] 5 stars.

lol Thanks Cat

Honestly though, back to the OP's wall of text.... it's a pretty long written joke.

"Gamers these days" he says.... as if something has changed.

Humans have been griping and complaining about everything since the dawn of time.

Buncha ancient ancestors in Africa griping back and forth with wood makes the most OP fishing spears....

Seriously, go back and pull up the original EQ, Lineage, DF, LoK or UO forums.... If my old man brain serves me well, it was pretty much a spitting image of these forums, and every other game forum to ever see the light of day.

Nothing has changed.

Yeah it has, and if you've any experience of those old days at all you'll know it has. The OP didn't say people don't argue, or rage. It's just that now, it's an e-sport.
Good post, something on these here forums I can completely agree with for once.

Here's the thing though - the whole world is going to hell right now, entire sovereign economies are getting flushed down the pan and they're going to drag everyone down with them if it doesn't get fixed. Times are pretty dark, and look likely to continue getting darker than any of us has ever experienced in our lifetime.

A lot of these serial whiners with their colossal sense of self entitlement are going to be worrying about a lot more than the kind of trivial stuff that gets them in a foam right now. Let them work themselves into a spin over every little tiny thing, at some stage we'll all be in a position to put some stuff that seems to matter right now, in real perspective.

It couldn't possibly be because the game didn't live up to their expectations...

When it boils down to it, the combat is great, the rest of the game is pretty typical KMMO. I'm ok with that, but I can see where a lot of people would not be, especially in areas where things were actually removed or changed for the worse for our release.

Nope, it's all NCSoft employees.

Yeah that's about right.

On the EU servers we're getting a few late starters who seem very impressed with Tera. They might get disillusioned at endgame, but they might just be less demanding than the first wave of an MMO always is. And if they're anything like me, they won't be hitting 60 too fast and might be lucky to hit cap just as the QoA part 2 stuff gets released?

I'm still really enjoying Tera immensely. But then I'm not very demanding and I like alts.

They gave SWTOR a higher rating on graphics and gameplay. Tera absolutely destroys SWTOR on gameplay and graphics, it's not even arguable. IGN is pretty much are a [filtered] joke when it comes to rating MMOs.

I'd say SWTOR and TERA deserve roughly the same score on gameplay. Both felt fresh when I tried them out. The only reason to rate them low is if you personally didn't like it.

That's one opinion. Mine is that doing so would be being overly generous to SWTOR.

I'm a Tera fangirl, no denying that. But I'm more than aware of it's weaknesses, and one critical area of comparison is definitely questing. But I just don't think SWTOR bears a favourable comparison to Tera in any other area that matters to me as an MMO fan. Actually, after sitting through hour upon hour of dialogue that began as a novelty but ultimately only flattered to deceive, giving me far more reasons to kill X amounts of Y than I truly needed, Tera's rudimentary questing was a welcome relief.

So yeah,a matter of opinion and all that, but their relative review scores are quite literally inexplicable to me unless I question the integrity of the writer and the publication. I'm finding it hard to see it as anything other than an issue of sponsorship and advertising revenue. EA swing with some weight, EME definitely doesn't.

Put it this way, Tera will get a re-sub out of me even though there are things I'd like to see improved. SWTOR never will, regardless of what they try to do with it.
One of those situations really.Easy to negotiate if you're an ethical sort of person. Here's how it would play out if it were my lancer in that group:

* quick gear check and an assessment that on average we're way under geared

* explain to the group that in my considered opinion, we have zero chance of hitting the dps turnover required to succeed.

* if no solution is forthcoming, explain that as the tank, I'd be happy to go with a marginally geared party, but since we are not, I'm going to politely decline. But wish them luck.

* walk away

That's about how it would go. But then I'm not inclined to impose my will on others.

edit: and I would certainly be prepared to give it a try even if it was very marginal, so long as people had consumables and had done the prep with crystal load outs. Often the most fun and memorable attempts are the ones that are inherently risky, even if you're on farm status it's nice to mix it up.

Good to know that guilds are using the political process to cream off taxes and spend it on themselves and their friends instead of doing public works.

This isn't politics, this is a racket......oh.....
